I have two islands and they were started on the 19th/21st of March.
My first island is special I guess since it was well, the first one lol. But I think it's the one I would choose to redo - I have spent a lot of hours on it, but I don't think that bothers me much.

I seriously want to restart basically because I have a special theme for the island in mind. A story of mine and I want to base the island off the world/characters I created.

I would mainly miss the DIYs I collected/NM achievements and museum donations. All are things I can get back though, so not too worried about them.

I have one villager who I have to get off my island and put into my other town before I did restart since he's a dremie. I don't have room in my other town yet, though, so I'll have to wait to move him in for 3 days+. Also, I don't TT, or at least I haven't ever in NH yet. I was hoping to never TT just because I rather play that way, but I feel like this process would save me much more time. I am kind of stuck- so I guess I was looking for advice or to see if anyone else has gone through something similar!

Thanks for reading :)

I can’t relate, but I have a ton of spare DIYs I can give you if you’d like!

I feel this rn. I've had my island since launch, and did so much with it but I feel ... idk, sick of seeing it everyday? I'm not sure when I started to feel this but I feel the layout is not working for me. It feels stupid to reset because of that and the name I gave it because you can terraform your island into anything you want but it would be nice to have a fresh start. I'd like my island to have a theme as well but the name I gave it wouldn't really make sense :s. I reset my original NL town bc of the layout and while I missed it for the fact it was what I started with I could easily see what I wanted changed the next time around. Its really your call.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way about my Island name - it would be so random for my theme currently even with terraforming! Do you know how many days it takes to unlock terraforming if you do all the steps to get 3 star rating?

If you're time traveling, maybe 2-3 days irl. I know on the first day you have to pay off your home with miles, unlock the museum, wait a day then build the museum, build the shops, build villager houses, have Town Hall, etc. Then you have to be notified by Nook/Isabelle that KK Slider wants to play, and to earn the 3 star rating you need nearly max villagers and decorate your town as much as possible.

Also forgot about the Nook miles, oof that would hurt to have to re-earn.

Ah, yeah...it's a lot of work to start over :( I don't know what to do! I will definitely have to sleep on it I think :/

I am going through something similar. I decided that i would give myself about a week to see how i feel. If i still want to reset by then, then i would go ahead and do it. Give yourself sometime to think, no need to rush and decide right away.

If you (or anyone else) who decides to start over, I'd be happy to help by providing free fruit and lily seeds! I also have some spare diys just sitting around that I really want to get rid of

I just reset my island yesterday, for the same reasons that you want to. I've put a lot of time into my island, but I just wasn't happy with where it was going. Also, my vision for my island totally changed. It was originally called Coral Cove, and it was going to be a beach town type thing, but I realized I actually wanted a more foresty, cabin-in-the-woods look. I think it's better to just reset your island and be happy with the new one than stick with your current one and not be happy with it. But you can do what you want to. That's what the game's about.

Totally agree! I've been feeling like this for about the past 2-3 days, so I will definitely be smart and think it over some more! Let me know what you decide!

That is very nice of you! I appreciate that - will let you know if I decide to restart :)

That's awesome! I'm really glad you are happier now with your new island. I agree, why play in a town that doesn't spark joy, as Marie Kondo would say 😂

I went starting a new island to terraforming in two hours. Since my first island has nearly unlimited resources, i just borrowed from it and time traveled.

I think it might be difficult to line up your move in for your dreamie without time travelling but in I think that ultimately if you're upset about your island, resetting is the way to go. Of course like the other suggestions, I would wait a few days if you're still unsure since resetting is permanent haha

I have two islands as well. The second one I hated the layout. I initially had a vision for my island, but due to the layout, I'm unable to accomplish it. Then I guess it really started to get to me. Each time I would play, I would reflect on how I couldn't do that or couldn't this, etc and it would irritate me. I really really wanted to restart. But what held me back were the museum donations and the DIYs I accumulated. I restarted because I was unhappy and I couldn't see the option of getting around the layout. Now, I have a layout that fits with my vision, a theme in mind and my island is slowly coming together.

Whether or not you end up restarting, sleep on it for a few days, and see how you feel. If you decide that you're still unhappy or feel you can work on certain things maybe that's your answer.

(But if you do restart, feel free to reach out. I can help you with hybrids, DIYs, fruit, and fossils)

Thank you for the advice! I felt guilty for basically voiding all my villagers as well lol. I will keep thinking about it before doing anything rash, but I think if I bring over some of the patterns I’ve used to a new island, I will feel good about it. Did you time travel at all to get your new island back to where you were in your old town? I’m considering doing that so I have this shop and whatnot right away.
