Vegetable spots without a dedicated "farm" area?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some inspiration on how to incorporate the various vegetables in your island without having a dedicated "farm" location.

My theme is a little town but I lack a good space that I can turn into 3x2 or 3x3 farm space for tomatoes, potatoes etc. I tried looking around on insta and pinterest, but inevitably find lots of (very beautiful) farm areas that are just too big for me.

Have you found ways to put smaller patches of vegetables around your town? If so, could you share a picture?

That's a really cute idea I never considered, even on a modern island that could work really well.

The exterior of the retail shops could also be decorated with some vegetables without looking terribly out of place, depending on what aesthetic you're going for. At least for a small island community, it doesn't seem out of place to me for the Nooks would be growing their own produce, especially since they have a food item on display all the time once you've upgraded their shop.

This is what I plan to do when I redecorate. It would make sense for them to have just a small little garden in the backyard.

Maybe plant some near the beaches and try and hide it?

Try planting them in like 9x9 square areas. If you go to my island "Destiny" I have something like that where I did it with both vegetables and Flowers.

One of my favorite island builds has an interesting way the planted their crops into a forest part of their island… they did diagonal lines of crops which could easily be done in a smaller setup.

I've got a small pumpkin patch in between a villager's yard and a waterfall! I think putting some vegetable spots in yards is a great idea though.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I ended up freeing a few spaces behind some villager houses to make little backyards. Unfortunately I usually do frontyards, so I had to experiment a little Also snuck a few carrots in my forest-y area as 1x1 spaces - a bit similar to Elderberry!
