Yes: cataloging is definitely easier and I will probably get the catalog only people done first (as I assume those who are buying will need time to come up with the funds- especially as it takes a few days to get the island).

Unfortunately the island will be open to the US players before I get the game, so that probably doesn't help me. xP but atleast cataloguing I can save the bells and order myself when I can, and saves you having to wait for a day to elapse to order them/stockpiling now.

Call me a noob or whatever, I'm new to this kind of thing, what is the difference between pick up now and cataloging, I though you had to have owned the iems at least once for it to be added to your catalog?

Edit: What is the benefit of cataloguing? are there some items that you can only buy now? Is there anything to stop me cataloging everything and doing nothing else?

Pick up now: You pay for the items there and take them back to your town.

Catalogue: You put the items in your inventory and drop it; that way when you go back to your town you can order it from your store catalogue.
