it's just an idea i had...
in future animal crossing games, villagers could take vacations. it would function kinda like moving: they ping you about it 5 days before, but they could still leave automatically and leave you a letter. but there'd be a couple difference. for one, you have no choice in the matter, even if they ping you. but they always return from their vacations after a certain amount of days. if you're close friends with the villager, they'll give you a souvenir, which would be a rare item. if you're not close friends, they give you a regular item. kind of like moving away--they only give you pics if you're close friends. the house does not disappear while the villager is on vacation, and only 1 villager can be on vacation at a time.

of course, villagers can still move away. only now that they can take vacations, which are totally up to them, this is totally up to you. villagers wouldn't be able to automatically move out, they'd need your permission. and if you do give them permission, they can't suddenly change their minds and say that your friendship needs to improve. you can't evict villagers, but they will be getting ready to move as soon as you let them. if that makes sense...

sorry if this is dumb. i just thought it'd be cool. i feel like i'm imprisoning my bear cubs. vacations would at least get them a change of scenery for a little while.

Especially if they could visit someone else's town. Sometimes I don't want a villager for keeps, just for a few days <3

Maybe a spare house for a guest villager to drop by.
Online friends can make arrangement for swap villagers for the vacation and than they come back. A good way to meet new villagers.
Or maybe they can go to the island for a vacation.

That would be so cool! I think that they could take a vacation to a friend's town. It would almost be like they're a temporary villager--they could interact with the player and native villagers just as if they lived there themselves. Then the villager could travel back to their home town.

What if when they were on vacation you could complete a task for them? Like the lighthouse task in the gc version. They could give you a house model when they returned for killing roaches, cleaning, idk

That sounds fun villagers are able to take vacation. Hope they add that in the next game. I hope they can take a vacation in someones town the player could see new villagers for a while or the island.

Well when they move it's usually because they want a "change of scenery." This would be the same except they're only leaving for a week or so.

I think that the island should be more like a resort! There should be a nice fancy hotel, and there will be a few islanders staying there, and a chance that one of yours may have gone there for a few days! It would be super cool, and I really hope the island can ACTUALLY be interesting!

I've always thought it would be fun to have a mini hotel or something. Instead of one camper at a time, two or three guests can stay for a couple of days at random times.

I like that idea! It'd be cool if they asked us to housesit for them as well. They can give you their keys so you can let yourself in and if you do it for the entirety of their vacation, they'll give you a good prize (maybe their picture?)!

i like the idea of a hotel in your town! maybe near the end of their vacation, a villager staying in your hotel could ask you for a souvenir to take home or something. they could give you their picture if you become friends with the visitors!

The villager could also do something like a house swap or exchange villagers, like exchange students. So your villager would swap houses with a random towns villager, or a friends villager, and they would stay like that for a week.

I also love the idea of a hotel! And you could get a little job there like you can in the cafe. That'd be fun!

Yes that would make sense ! Even living in the most beautiful town can become boring for a villager hah! They need to visit other places and when they are back , bring us a lot of gifts of course!

This idea sounds really cute! I love them giving you a souvenir when they return. Maybe when they're leaving, they can wear a hat and carry a little suitcase or sack. <3

Having other villagers visit for a vacation would be adorable and a great way to meet new ones! I like everyone's idea of having a hotel in town. If you work at the hotel, maybe it could work like in Pokemon X/Y where you can make their beds, find a lost item, or order their food correctly. It'd be a cute mini game tbh.
