I was unable to find another thread for this, so if there is one forgive me.

But, I was wondering if any of you use alternate characters for extra buildings? What I mean by that is, do you have alternate characters that you use to sort of "create" your own PWP of sorts, such as perhaps a library, inn, etc?

I haven't yet, but I plan to do this for my town, I feel it will be something extra to do, without having to use my own house for those purposes. Also, if you are going to (or already do) use alternate homes as extra buildings, what are they (or what are they going to be)?

I just created an alt today and I'm using it for storage since they have a separate "closet". I'm planning to use it for more rooms to display furniture after I maxed out my mayor's house which will mainly be filled with oriental-themed furniture.

Yes I do, the only finished one right now is a bath house, which I might have to tear down anyways to rework the area a bit. Which I don't mind too much, it gives me the opportunity to replan it.

i've yet to use alt characters. i may once i run out of storage space but that won't happen soon. if i do, i'll probably make their house a cabin, obviously using cabin furniture and plants and such, to fit with my theme. i would make it in a secluded area of my town, surrounded by trees and a stump with a clover or such.

I've seen a couple of towns with houses like that! I thought it was a really cool idea, so I might think of something for my side character. She's named after Sae from Fatal Frame so I might do a horror themed house.

I've been to dream towns where other player-characters' homes are used for things like hotels, department stores, restaurants, and the like. It's also fairly common to make a character who never upgrades out of the tent and place them near the Campsite PWP, to make a sort of campground area. I've been thinking of doing that, since I might have space for it. Plus that character can hold all of the path patterns.

I did that to some extent with Trent's house. I lucked into the 7/11 set, so I made the main downstairs room the market, the left room I'm leaving small and I have the cardboard set (also lucked into that) in there, like a storage room for the store, and the right room is also small and is like the managers office. Upstairs is Trent's personal room, and the basement is his music room where Mystic Spiral can practice. Jane's house I'm still figuring out, but her upstairs is her art room. For Daria I made a huge library complete with a fireplace, cats, and coffee. Her upstairs has her computer and a server, and I think I'll eventually play that out more with several servers and the typewriter and various anatomical weird stuff. (If you've ever seen Daria, that makes complete sense, if you haven't, trust me and go with it.) Actually, once I get Jane's house sorted a bit more, I'll redo my DA since it's been a while and I've defintiely changed things since my most current one.

My Alt House is the biggest with only the center flooring. As I named my main character after a city in Italy (Venice), I named my alt after a city in Egypt (Damietta). I based her main flooring an egyptian themed. If I expand her house, I may give her a basement and turn it into gold. I don't know about any other rooms I could do.

I turned my Alt's house into an inn.

My town is like a town in which tourists would visit.

Ooo, that's a good idea... I kind of want to make one now. Maybe a nice little bed and breakfast type thing, with a spa/bathroom, a kitchen, and two bedrooms. Hmm.

I have friends that used their alternate character's houses as a hotel, a cafe, and a bakery. I like the idea of a library. I think I may make an alternate character just for that reason. I like to visit dream addresses that have their alternate's houses set up like that too. It makes it more interesting .

Really interesting uses for alts in this thread. I forgot to mention my initial plans for my own town though: an inn, a church, and a library or something else if I come up with a different idea. I'm actually thinking of using the exhibit rooms on the second floor of the Museum as a library, so I can have an extra building to do whatever I please with.

You could use a single house for multiple purposes I guess, like the main room for a church and the back room for a library. If you want your library to be seen in your dream address you probably shouldn't place it in the museum :/

I kind of do, yes. I was considering putting a small inn in Krystal's house and a Caf? in Maxwell's. Aside from that, however, I decided to keep them close to the houses the two would have them in the canon of my series- Maxwell would create an artistic house with a small shrine dedicated to another OC, while Krystal's house would be filled with representations of various locations in the story.

I'm also planning to add my final alt sometime, though- a blacksmith known as Raul. He'd take the same role as his OC counterpart.

Yep :3 I love dream addresses that do this actually ^.^

I have my mayors house, which is just...a house. Full of furniture I like.

Rose is a B&B owner by the ocean, with the main room having a lounge and check in desk, the back room as a community kitchen, and then all the other rooms are bedrooms.

Marie owns a bakery cafe, I chose not to fully upgrade her house, instead having a little apartment upstairs, the bakery on the main floor, and a kitchen in the back.

Noelle owns a castle that's kind of isolated from everyone. It's full of the fantasy sets that I didn't feel fit a normal home like my mayors.

I think I'm gonna have to get my dream on later today and visit some of these. I love seeing the unique things people do that I just wouldn't or don't think of doing.

I have three alternative characters, but I used two for holding paths and donating to the museum. So I utilized my alternative characters very well.

Yep! All of my alt characters are used. My ruby character has more of a fantasy themed house: mermaid, princess, sweets, lovely, regal and rococo. Gia is my villager picture main display house. She has one main Regular room and the other 5 all hold villager pics. Foster has the boy house with a main Nintendo room, a kiddie/balloon room and a sloppy basement with the 3 first floor rooms also holding villager pics. These characters also hold dif items in storage. Gia holds clothes: Gracie, dlc, event. Foster holds dlc's and unorderables and ruby holds Gracie fashion check stuff, the egg series, ice and snow stuff.
