When video game developers make new games that differ from the previous, they usually have their reasons to the decisions they made for the game. Even to the worst of changes or decisions, they can be justified. However, there are some developer decisions that just do not seem reasonable (like in Pokémon Sun and Moon, they removed the red hair option like they had in Pokémon X&Y).

In the case of ACNH, most of these decisions are justifiable because of time traveling and how they’re trying to make things fair for players who play naturally, as well as to encourage trading. But there are some decisions that I can’t even justify.

What features or changes in ACNH do you feel that were unreasonable? This isn’t a discussion on the changes you hated, but rather the negative changes or decisions you couldn’t justify.

In my opinion, I hardly found any unreasonable changes, but one change I may question was the decision to not include the extra fruits like seen in ACNL (namely, bananas, lemons, mangoes, lychees, durians, and persimmons). I may also question why DIY Recipes can’t be stored in your closets.

My personal guess is that they decided to focus on certain aspects like terraforming, etc and left stuff out to be brought back over the years via updates since supposedly ACNH will be supported for THREE years.

I can't think of any unreasonable changes cuz I don't remember New Leaf that well.

As for decisions... there's plenty that come to mind.
  • The inability to craft more than one item at a time.
  • The inability to pull resources from my house storage when crafting inside my house.
  • The inability to select how many of an item I'd like to buy as opposed to 1, or 5. This one makes no sense to me. You can literally pick how
many turnips to buy from Daisy Mae with a very cute selection UI, but that feature is absent from the shops? Why?
  • The inability to buy multiples same-type clothes from Able sister's dressing room. Why must I exit the room each time I buy something only to go right back inside?
  • The inability to, when terraforming, destroy a line of blocks at once, or build a straight line of blocks at once to save a bit of the tedium.
  • The lack of a visual indicator as to what you're destroying/building when terraforming.
  • The limit of 8 inclines/bridges. (10 would be ideal)
  • The inability to use bridges to connect landmasses instead of just water. Would be cool to use a bridge to join two mountains.

I may also question why DIY Recipes can’t be stored in your closets.
This. I have so many recipes laying around ;u;

But jus a bit more:

1- The limited amount of furniture, that I'm guessing that they'll add at some point. I miss having the robot set (sorry if it's not called that in English, it's my first AC in English), and I feel like lots of characters suffer from it, having very similar house interiors. I also see people online saying that ''all 5 stars island look the same'', oh look ''another zen garden'', and first, who cares, and second, with the limitations right now plus the amount of people playing, yeah, some people are going to definitely have some kind of similarities in their island's design.

I do think we're going to get updates for a long time, like with Splatoon 2, but I wish we didn't have to wait for some of the classic sets, as I'm guessing we'll have to. It feels like an ''empty update'' imo, since it was expected to be in the game from the beginning.

But at the end of the day it doesn't really annoy me as I'm taking my time with decorating and such, it only makes me go ''hm, I wonder why, time perhaps?''

2- How much the villagers take to want to move. I like that it seems that the ''cooldown'' is shorter when you tell a villager to stay, but I still think that they take too long to move? I actually love that they can't move out without your permission, long lost are the days you couldn't play for a week or so and you entered the game scared about your favorite villager moving. A big 10/10 on that at least.

3- Bulk crafting. Just why. And with this one, why can't I choose how many items I want to buy in stores? I either go 1 by 1 or 5, then 1... Same with the Able Sisters. I adore the changing room, but I would like to be able to buy some shirts at the same time and not having to go in an out several times.

4- Not having a way to access your storage from the outside/ while crafting inside your home to get materials directly.

5- Bridges only connecting land with water under them. But I can manage, it's just a ''dang it'' moment for me not being able to connect other levels with them.

6- One island per console. I'm lucky I don't have to share it, but I have friends that have to do so and can be sometimes inconvenient or it even discouraging to those stuck to the 2nd player role to even play the game. And yes, some have decided to buy another system, but not everyone can.

With that being said it's not like everything here listed seems unreasonable to me (for example the first point), but there are some that make me question if they playtest it enough (like the bulk option, did they make enough fish bait to realize it's a little bit inconvenient? ^^U)

So many complaints invariably boil down to players not wanting to take an extra two seconds to complete a task obviously designed to take an extra two seconds
It's not always about the extra time invested in performing a task, but rather, the additional tedium introduced with performing repeat tasks which doesn't have to be so. For instance; what is the purpose of disallowing the player from selecting multiple colors of a T-shirt from Able's? We can already select a full outfit to purchase at once, but it arbitrarily restricts us from purchasing a duplicate item in a different color. What is the reason for this unnecessary limitation? It's questionable.

Put another way, why introduce the option of the dressing room's "Buy multiple" option in the first place? Obviously it's a time-saver option, but then it doesn't allow us to buy multiples of the same color. This runs counter to the purpose of the dressing room's feature of expediting purchases in the first place; in other words, such a restriction seems asinine, and an oversight on the dev's part.

I'll reserve judgement for missing items once we've been through all seasons (like I feel like we're going to get at least something in the summer like missing fruits or maybe even more ores), but I really hate how they decided to nerf rare bugs in all capacities when they also decided that the updated Nook's Cranny should have one luxury item. If one laptop is like 70.000 bells, is it really unreasonable for the players to be able to earn that on their own island by themselves within a short period of time? In previous games a laptop was like a couple of fruit trees.

Why can we not harvest Lily of the Valley like other flowers? Why can we not place them in our house? This is probably a really dumb complaint but I can't understand why they made that decision for just this one flower. Why? Because it's special? It was just as special in New Leaf as it is in this game, only achievable with a perfect town, and yet in the previous game we could collect them and wear them while in this game we cannot. This is hardly a serious issue but considering this is probably my favorite flower in game, irl, and also my real life birth flower (flower equivalent of a birth stone) I am actually very disappointed that I can only display them outside. Like, I want them on my tables, I wanna wear them, let me have this Nintendo!!!

Im sure there are systematic limitations that I have no concept of that blocked it and I fully accept that these developers know more about game making than I ever will in my lifetime but... why did they remove the giant clam music boxes ;-;

I am assuming gyro isa will be coming when Brewster comes. I really miss digging them up. Not because I care about gyroids, but because they were such a big part of the GC version

I don’t understand the interest nerf. It’s not like that’s how time travelers make their money, and now it’s just so low you have to question the point.
Edit to add: why do I have to delete nook miles shopping mail. Why isn’t it like the regular shopping mail??

1. I do wish we could experience unexpected visitors like in NL or villagers telling you they'll drop in at a specific time.

2. There seem to be way fewer requests that I get from villagers now as compared to NL.
I still get some but I've been playing since launch and had a total of one delivery request and 2 games of buried treasure.

3. Very long wait times for villagers moving organically and for someone who doesn't TT, that can be a pain. I think the approximate 15 day period is way too long - should be more like 7 days though I do appreciate the fact that villagers can no longer move out without checking with us first.

4. Golden tools should not break. I'm not even interested in crafting the golden slingshot or the golden watering can because it's a waste of golden nuggets to me.

5. Not being able to purchase multiple items of clothing from Able's.

6. I'm dying for more food items. I know we will probably get way more through updates but I wish we had a bigger selection to begin with.

im really hate the 1 island per system thing. i have a console switch thats hooked up to the tv and my gf and i were talking about getting me a switch lite so that we can use the other switch as a home console but i would have to restart my whole island from scratch bc even if i transfer my profile to a switch lite i cant transfer my acnh island on the home console switch

ALSO i really miss villagers barging into ur home i used to love meeting up with my villagers and giving them home tours

also part 2 i really dont like how often your villagers talk about people that visit your island. I do a lot of trades so a lot of ppl come to my island but they dont go anywhere past my airport area yet a bunch of my villagers will talk about them

I forgot to mention voided villagers moving into the unsold plots.
I think we should be able to recruit our villagers through the Islands or amiibo cards, and the voided villager move-in mechanic should be removed altogether.
