Unpopular Opinion: NMT is literally useless

I don't necessarily take the first one I come across, but I do take the first one that I deem not too ugly :p
Pretty much as long as theyre not Diva or Quillson, I don't mind inviting them.

Also, I'm limited by the amount of effort I feel like putting in, which is usually not that much. So its pretty much the first one that Im ok with within 5 tickets.

Yeah it's pretty much the same for me! And sometime I uses tickets if I want more ressources/trying to find bottles on the beach or specific islands. But I usually stock the NMT until I have a spot open.
I do admit that at first I couldn't believe for how much they were selling!

thats true in terms of transportation but if I wanted to make bank off tarantula island i would just ask for equal amount in bells instead for a trade? also tarantulas go out of season by the end of this month if you dont TT, maybe nook islands will be more profitable in the summer.

I believe that it will be the scorpions after the tarantulas.. from what I've heard.

Yup! I also use it when Im in need of additional resources. Especially with this stupid bunny day event >(

aside from villagers, that's my favourite part of the islands! love seeing the bottles and praying for a recipe i don't already have.

Scorpions are next in line. Not sure of their sell price though and if they'll work the same. And as I said, easier to transport than bells for some people

NMT are very useful when it comes to extra Nuggets and Clay that I need for fencing and crafting, and also I like to find an island with some peaches (apples is my native fruit) and sell a whole lot and make a big profit!

They work the same. I've been employing the tarantula strategies to catch scorpions. Pretty much all of the information for tarantulas have been working for me.

I think people are also forgetting given the Tarantula Island thing, you can easily turn each ticket into a 300k ticket. Also for materials/resources they're very handy. It's easier to carry 300 tickets than the money associated. Which would be 90,000,000b (300x300,000). This is assuming you turned every island into a Tarantula island (Which isn't impossible, I've done it on every island I've visited, some islands are a lot harder than others mind).

I find them pretty handy for item/recipe/resource trades. Plus they're pretty simple to liquidate back into bells if I need to, but with the stalk market I've been swimming in bells frankly. I was able to fully outfit a kitchen today with 3 tickets and a small amount of bells, it was quite convenient.

If you don't like them then give it enough time and their value will come right down as people will keep racking up nook miles with not much to spend them on. For now they're a very convenient currency.

I had all my faves amiibo cards so nmts are completely useless to me. I only use them to buy hybrids from people. lmao

Why has it become the NH's go-to currency?

Firstly, the tickets are more easily manageable than fiddling around with a ton of bells and can be farmed in an efficient way using the straight-forward list of tasks.
Secondly, within the NH universe they are definitely timeless and hold good prospective opportunities for getting new stuff that will be added to other islands in the future via downloadable content. Whatever may be added, the rarer things will likely be found outside your own island.

Now they are definitely the most reliable currency that, compared to Bells, can get you almost all the things: From new villagers (either tour or trade) to free recipe/furniture in tree (tour), hybrids, chance for gold nuggets, etc.

I don’t think they’re useless per se, but definitely not as valuable (aka useful) as the market would make you think.

It’d be interesting to see how many people would actually prefer them over Bells, if they could choose either option for their sales/purchases.

Honestly, both bells and NMTs are useful to me. TT v TT I've been getting most of my villagers through island hopping because auctions just give me anxiety and I can do these at my own pace. I do appreciate bells though bc......mortgage.

I'm in the Southern Hemisphere and yes. Scorpions. I'm excited to see the tarantulas, I've heard it's easier than scorpions.

But, to add to the rant...
As someone hunting for my own Raymond and refusing to pay the outrageous prices, I feel there is merit to the NMT. For me, they are worth it. I cycle, and give all but the tier 1's away for free. I'm even planning on giving a few Tier 1s away in a giveaway. But any I have for auction I would ask a MAX of 40 NMT just so I can keep my cycle going for high demand villagers, which I pick up from islands. Otherwise, I don't see a point.

Seeing as Nintendo frustratingly kept in the 99k bells per slot limit and the tedium of dropping one at a time during a trade, NMTs are a superior form of wealth transfer. And given the fact that Timmy and Tommy buy them for 10k a piece (100k bells for a slot vs 99k bells), it will always be a superior form of wealth transfer.

That's not to say they won't drop in value, and they most assuredly will if the new villagers get Amiibo cards issued for them.

Tbh I don’t really use NMTs that much other than to get to bamboo islands to turn into tarantula islands.

Then again, I don’t trade or participate in the economy here.

they’re useful, just seeing them being traded for ridiculous amount makes it look more than its worth. but yes once we get our perfect islands and all our dreamies what are y'all gonna do with 300 excess? trade it here? why its become the main currency baffles me.
