unoriginal??

I assume they mean their house and clothing aren't original. How unoriginal is depends on the person. Though, it'll probably be more than a couple pieces of furniture...

My guess will be any changes in their clothing, speech and furniture is "unoriginal"

After all, it wasn't their "original" set when they were programmed in.

I guess, you can make a villager "original" to your tastes/preferences. But the consensus on trading villagers, when using the term "original", is how much as changed since the villager was first arrived in town. Some people just prefer that - original.

Unoriginal villagers can be anything, it just depends on how well that user took care of that villagers originality. The villager may have changed their original shirt into another, or may have copied another catchphrase from another animal or the mayor or somebody else could have changed it from the original. Parts of their original set up of their house could be missing, however the wallpaper and flooring can't be changed. Or be replaced with other furniture.

Villagers' houses are usually unoriginal when they have fish or bugs in their house. If you're not sure about a villager being original, you can just look on nookipedia and they usually have the picture of the villager in their original shirt and house. For future reference though, if you're adopting a villager that's unoriginal, ask the cycler/user to take a picture of their house, or ask them what is unoriginal about the villager. They're usually happy to help and most often if it's something from their house, the villager probably put it in retail.

To me, it is if the are anything less that how the game has them set as. However, I will still adopt villagers with different clothes but still original houses. Shirts are an easy fix.
