uno plot resetting question

sorry if this is silly lol

if you went back a day, and then asked a villager to move in (on the same day) and then fast-forwarded a day forward so you get to the actual date today - are you able to lay out designs in order to plot reset?

If you do this with a campsite villager it would probably work, but if you asked a villager from someone else's town, you would need to place down patterns on the day you asked them to move in.
