Unlocking police station

How does one unlock the police station? Any villager can do it but every time they ping they either want to sell something, buy something from my bag, or ask what their shirt looks like. I've been hiding for 5 minutes in the corner of the sea for more than an hour already but not a single project was suggested by anyone.

PS: Can you get both stations suggested, and is there a trick to getting a specific one?

You can do the diving suit trick because villagers are supposed to suggest it to you. It took my villagers a while, but I was happy when they finally did.

When you get it suggested it will be listed as police station. Wen you speak to Isabelle, you will have a choice of which one to build. The modern station comes with Copper and the classic police comes with Booker!

I've never heard of this trick. The police station is one of the two buildings I deperately want in my town, the other being The Roost, but that will be coming soon as I just got the second floor of the museum. Well, just fully funded it today.

What's this wetsuit trick you guys speak of?! The police station is the final PWP I actually REALLY want in my town as I've gotten The Roost and other things like a Windmill already.

Hide from villager's sight for 5-6 minutes, the best spot is at the farthest corner of the sea (which you need a wetsuit for). Return to land and make a villager spot you. Because you were gone "for so long" they will *ping*. This opens the opportunity of getting a PWP suggested, but it's not 100%. Like me you might be spending hours without any suggestions.

The reason why many people lack PWP suggestions is because they don't receive many *pings*. By hiding at sea you trigger these *pings*, which indirectly triggers the PWP's.

You forgot the other part of the trick; go with no money in your wallet (so villagers won't sell you stuff) and fill every pocket space with bells (100 bell increaments work) so they can't give you anything.

When it comes to getting PWPs suggested, fill your invo completely with tools and flowers. A villager will never ask you to sell or buy anything from you. They will never ask to buy a flower nor sell you anything. I prefer the flowers over bell bags because even with 100 bell increments, they can still ask to sell you stuff, and it just gets deducted and grouped when you say yes.

Put on your wet suit and just go in the water. You don't even have to swim to the corner of the map. Just get in the water and let the jellyfish sting you for about 6-10 minutes. I like to do longer to make sure it works.

Get out of the water and find a villager and walk in front of them so they can ping you. Talk to them to see if they suggest a PWP.

I also recommend talking to another villager before you get into the water again. This is to stop the "oh you look tired; take a break!" message from coming up. If no one is pinging you, talk to someone to get the tired message and the next person who sees you directly, will ping you.

If you are looking for a PWP suggestion from a specific villager type, find them and dig holes around them. And then when you get out of the water and walk in front of them, they'll ping you. And as another tip, press Y when in front of a hole to cover it up so you won't have to get your shovel out and have an open invo space all of a sudden and risk being sold something.

Are you supposed to talk to the same villager every time?

Peaches randomly came up to me and requested it. a couple days after she moved in. It was quite a surprise.

Avoid the Jocks, they are asking too many "What do you think..." questions.

Also, you can get one PWP suggestion a day.

I've heard some get two in one day, but after the first suggestion, the next one is a very slim chance. It's never happened to me before, and probably never will since I only need one more suggestion, and it's a bridge which will never come since I have three at the moment.
