I've been playing as a villager on my son's 3DS. I recently purchased a 3dsxl of my own, and I decided to do the "Move to another town" option.

I've advanced my house pretty far, got many many items (like a complete mermaid set) I would like to keep, etc. I did the required "move in" thing, and currently talking to Rover on the train... HOWEVER, the town maps he is offering me are just plain awful. We never reset for better maps when we started my son's game because all the choices seemed reasonable; I didn't pause to think that my offered maps would be so terrible. I would reset in a second for different maps (I'm not THAT picky, I just don't want layouts that are completely stupid) but will I lose everything I've earned until now?

I would be crushed if I lost my progess, but I'd hate it if I was stuck with a stupid town layout. I don't know which is worse. What do I do? I can't find anything online that explains what would happen if I reset. Would my "moved in" person still be waiting create a town, or would they be gone forever? Please help, my 3dsxl is gonna be suspended until I figure this out... has no one had this problem before?

if you reset everything is gone. :/

You could still do the move in option i believe though.

You can still move your person in again, though, I believe. Unless your character is now gone from your son's town, you can still select the option to move in again. Your progress shouldn't be all lost!

Why not just make a new character in a new town. Pick up all your stuff from your son's town then delete the old character?

Move into the crappy layout town, bring your stuff to your sons town, get a layout you like, and go grab your stuff from your son.
