Unique Mayor and Town Names

I like going with food-themed names! My last town before Matcha was Oolong.

Scientific names of plants and animals can be really cool, too. My very first town was Athene, named for a genus of owls.

I love to take real words (Nova, Luna, Pyre, Emerald) and switch them up by adding/removing letters, changing the spelling, etc to make a unique town name (Noveon, Luneta, Pyrena, Emyrelle). In a nutshell: pick a real word as your base word, then edit the crap out of it to get something that sounds cool.

I'm doing the natural thing with my third town, and I named it after a place that's pretty much the opposite of natural haha. But I guess if I ever change my mind the name will suit it.

Brooklyn? That would be really cool to try to do a modern city! :> Actually, I've never been to Brooklyn, so I don't know if that's what it's like xD

I came up with my town name using this

DreamBay. I kept calling my town newville so I wanted a new name. I love this name.

My town name is just "Wyn". I couldn't think of anything, because I'm horrible at coming up with names. I remember searching on Google for some random generators and "Wyn" was a suffix that generated, and I was like, "That sounds ok."

Wyn sound really nice though - very whimsical, but simple :>

An example of a foreign word could be, say, French for dog; "Chien," which you could then change up to maybe "Shienn" or something like that? It's a pretty bad example, but it's the first thing I thought of :')

My first town, Tadfield, is named after a town from my favorite book (Idk if it's real or not lmao) and my second town, Sonata, is just a word. My mayor and alt characters in Sonata have or will have music-themed names c: You could just do what I did with Sonata and look up word names/nature names. Before it got corrupted, Sonata was Cypress, before that it was Hyacinth, and before that it was Impala.

As for mayor names, Crowley is from the same book Tadfield is from, and Harper (Sonata's mayor) is a music-related name. Before he was Harper, his name Brooks, to match the nature theme I was trying. c: Try out different things!

TL;DR Experiment with different words or look to your favorite books/movies/games/etc, or try different themes!

Maybe name your town Petrichor, and call your mayor Rain?

Petrichor is the smell of the earth after it rains.

For my town, I called it Unmei. Why this, you may ask? Well, I went ahead and pulled up a translator from English to Japanese. I typed in "destiny" and well.. a weirdo town is born! Maybe you can try it this way with Google Translate or something? I'm sure you can find some really nice town names that you could use!
