Uninvited 10th Villager?

I have nine villagers and a tenth just moved in. I didn't invite this villager, so how did he end up in my town? I thought you had to actually invite someone to take the tenth spot?

A 10th villager can move into your town through Streetpass or as a voided villager from a friend's town (i.e., a villager that originated from a friend's town who moved out of their town recently and had not been adopted).

That's actually a common misconception. What people mean by "you won't get a 10th villager randomly" is that the game won't generate a villager for you, but a 10th villager can move in either through streetpass or wifi. The latter meaning that whenever you wifi with people (either in your town or in theirs), it's possible that you'll reiceive a villager from them that just moved out of their town or is in the process of moving, without you actually having any say in it.

To prevent villagers from moving in through streetpass, you can turn streetpass off for AC. To prevent wifi move ins, you'll basically have to stop playing with people until you've invited a 10th villager. Which is also the easiest solution in my opinion; when you're at 9 villagers, just invite a 10th one asap and you'll be fine!

Okay thanks everyone. Luckily he only trampled some of my orchard so it won't be hard to rebuild it. I need to move sixteen villagers out anyway, so at least now I have an extra unwanted villager to cycle out.

And my experience is that the 10th random move in is the hardest to move out...

I had the same problem with Ken, he moved in in front of my boyfriends house and I've cycled many times to move him out and 2 times he told me he was gonna move but in the end he decided to stay longer because "Fendar wouldn't be the same without him"

So I wish you good luck if you're going to try to make that villager move out

And guess what... yesterday after days of landscaping my town Ken decided to move! But I don't want to take the risk that someone will move into a terribe spot so I told him to stay
