underrated/overrated villagers?

Overrated: Marshal. Never understood why people liked Marshal so much. I had him for a while to see what the hype was...then traded him out as fast as I could.

Underrated: Poppy! She's so cute but hardly anyone likes her.

Bruce is one of my absolute faves! When he's in my town, my mayor always treats him like he's her cool older brother.

But basically... I have a type. Most of my favorites are the cranky villagers. I love Bruce, Walt, and Grizzly.

I will never understand the hype for Marshal, Chrissy, or Francine.

Rhonda is definitely underrated. She moved into my town of Ashland that I’m playing “organically” (no plot resetting or amiibo move ins) but in a terrible, terrible spot. She pinged me to move on the 23rd yesterday and I’m going to scan her back after she leaves so she goes in a better spot because she’s really grown on me in these last few weeks!

Underrated:
Grizzly - He's just so adorable.
Anicotti - I never see anyone mention her but she was my BF in my first ACGC town.
Hugh - His little lopsided grin just makes me smile.

I'm not going to tackle overrated, because to each their own, but I will say most of the top tier villagers don't appeal to me as much. There are a few exceptions, but I find I often don't agree with popular opinion.

I don't think she is, I see more praise for her than the other normal squirrels.
They're more underrated than she is.

I don't really get why there are consensus popular villagers at all, since everyone I like is someone I had...Glad I can make TBT off Julian lol

It feels like the villagers that aren't dogs, cats, rabbits and squirrels are underrated in general. Even more so once we leave mammals (except maybe octopi).

Overrated: Cookie. For some reason her face scares me, even tho others find it cute. I don't know why I feel like that haha

Underrated: Derwin, Derwin, Derwin.... I just... love him mkay. Also Opal is a really nice character, and all the elephants in general

No one ever likes the mice. Some of the designs are pretty bad, I have to admit that. But there are some cute ones in the mix, like Penelope, Bree and Rodney.

I never really saw the hype over Marshall until I came here. He's grown on me with time. I don't really find Flurry that cute, nor Pheobe to be honest, yet they're quite highly ranked.

Nobody really follows the tier list anymore, and i’m glad we don’t because all villagers are the same to me. Even though it doesn’t matter to me since I usually go for villagers of a lower tier anyway. I didn’t hate the tier list though, because it made sense why we had it.

Imo, the octopus’ (as in Marina and Zucker) are really overrated. I feel like it’s generally the really cutesy or food villagers that make the top of the tier list. Lolly is pretty overrated in my eyes too. I had her in my town for a time and she was nothing special, I find the lower tiers are where the animals with more quirker/stranger designs go. (Apart from Zucker & Merengue)

I personally think Henry is underrated. He’s actually pretty cute for a frog, I can’t really see fault with his design but I know frog villagers aren’t for everyone. I just expected him to be a bit higher, because he’s small villager with a cute design imo.

Right now I love Deli! He's super cute and I had so much fun making him his little curry shack in HHD. I loved him so much I bought his amiibo card and got him in my town! Other than him I love Del, Bud, Stinky, Sally, Pippy, Tabby and Freckles who all seem to be in the lowest tier. Camofrog and Rasher too, wow whats with this list? No taste, for sure

I do like Marshal but I'm never gonna drop a fat stack on him just to get him in my town. You know, Kidd has kinda the same "style" going on and no one seems to care about him. Kidd looks a little cooler too honestly lmao

It seems theres just some species that people dont really seem to like from the get go(rhinos, hippos, elephants, GORILLAS, monkeys, frogs, etc) Of course there are exceptions but if you aint a furry mammal or octo your chances arent good.

Overrated: Francine & Chrissy. I think they look kinda creepy and don't really fit in with the game's theme.

Underrated: Candi. I know people don't typically like mouse villagers, but I think she's a perfect addition for food themed (or pink themed) towns instead of a villager like Tia. Candi's actual food and real cute, man.

Overrated: Julian. I dunno, I find him sort of ugly.
Underrated: Broccolo. His smile is the purest thing I've ever seen.

I think Wendy is definitely underrated! She is so cute (although nowhere near Tangy standards) and she is always so nice to me! I think she should be higher since in the three villager tier posts I found Wendy was in tiers 3,4 and 4! I think Punchy is way way too overrated! I just find his design boring and his personality dull.

Underrated: Alfonso, he?s one of my favs yet seems to be in the lowest tier. I had him in my old town, and got him in my new town with an amiibo card.

Overrated: Zucker, I think he?s REALLY ugly, and yet he seems to be in the top tier. I don?t want him in my town and if I get him as a random move in, he?s gonna be the next Lionel. #IgnoreAndHit

Marshall, everyone loves him. I think it's just because he's pure white, but never really saw what others see in him. My all time favorite villager Hugh is pretty low, cause his a pig and blinding blue but his eyes are just so unique. I hope one day people will see how special he is.
