He was from a friend's village too, so idk how the void thing works, but is there any chance I can get him back?

Well, you'd have to have 16 villagers move out after him if you want him back in. That requires some massive TTing. When I say that, I mean you're taking 2 years+ in-game to get a villager out. That's almost impossible without the use of TTing. So, the answer is no. Good luck.
What the people above me said, pretty much. Although next time, if you think you may not play the game for a while, you can play it safe by making a note of the last day you played. Rather than writing it on a piece of paper or something and risk losing the paper, you can use the Game Notes on your 3DS, which is the yellow pencil icon on the home screen. You can just quickly write the date down so that when you next come to play, you can change the date back to that and play from there and just TT up to the current date.
