Ugh I gave the wrong gifts

I totally gave the wrong gifts out. Yesterday, I bought an orange striped halter dress and a light blue striped halter dress to give to Nan and Whitney. Nan had a move out bubble Last night so I wrapped up the blue dress to give to Whitney. But I couldn’t find her. This morning I gave the wrapped dress to Nan forgetting it was blue. I had bought myself a blue one as well and I thought that I had put it in my pockets so I wrapped up what I thought was a blue dress just now and gave it to Whitney. It was orange...

I did the same once... I gave the wrong piece of furniture to Melba that now has a white chair in the middle of her orange room. It's not the worst of things but it can be annoying.

If you shut off the game before the autosave after you gifted the wrong time, you might be able to revert it.

I've unwrapped gifts before just to double check I was giving the correct villager the correct item.
Sometimes I use different color wrapping paper to differentiate it, Moe's wrapping paper is blue, Kabuki's red, Tangy's orange or something like that.

The moment I accidentally hand a villager something wrong, I always force close immediately, since I don't want to see them wear/display it and go through the effort of removing it.

It’s actually pretty funny but I’ll reset his clothes today most likely. It happens often enough you’d think I’d learn, so my new plan is to stock up on wrapping paper over the next few days so that I can color coordinate my gift bags to villagers from now on. I’ve always tried to do it somewhat but just with whatever leftovers I have in my inventory... so it hasn’t been much help up to this point.

You can't tell Isabelle to remove clothes that you gifted him. She only resets custom designs if he is wearing one from another island and the design isn't in your able sisters.

He’ll take it off eventually since it isn’t his style. I’ll just throw tons of clothes he actually likes at him~

I've done something similar. Instead of giving them the wrapped gift i click on something else in my inventory. One time I gave someone a gift and they gave me the ninja shirt. I went to give Patty a gift next and I accidentally clicked the ninja shirt. It actually looks decent on her and she likes to wear it with the pansy crown I gave her for her birthday. I have also given Walt a muscle tank on accident. I have also more than once accidentally handed them a tool instead of a gift(always reset on this).

Similar to what others in this thread have done, I always panic and force quit the game since there is almost no way to remove it from the villager's inventory unless you put in a lot of effort to regift them the proper items to replace it.

I mean, at least it's just a different colored dress, as opposed to something that TOTALLY doesn't fit them? I'm super paranoid with gifts and have unwrapped and re-wrapped them before when unsure

But lately I've just been using the stack method to gift the few villagers whose photos I don't have, and only Marina's been getting wrapped gifts.
...And even those are coconuts

I did something similar, I gave Ursala a gamble present, meaning I didn't know what it looked like, and in this case it was the suit of lights. I really don't like it but luckily she rarely wears it

I don’t even wrap my gifts, but still managed to accidentally give Beau my lovely new black wide-brim straw hat I had been wearing that day I had just bought it recently and it looked great with my outfit....

It looks a little silly on him but I didn’t want to reset and I fully expected to get it back at some point....this was weeks ago and he still hasn’t given it back lol...occasionally he still wears it just to rub it in

Once day, I gave Snake a strawberry dress that was meant for Lolly. My bro was so mad that his favorite jock villager was "dressed up to go to a tea party". I tried talking to Isabelle, and he changed back into his ninja suit. Sometimes, he still breaks it out though. You never know when someone might throw an impromptu tea party.
