I had to transfer items between my two towns, so without thinking I popped my main town cartridge into my super old 3DS, that I haven't used in over a year.

Imagine my surprise when I loaded my town up and it was snowing with lights on the cedar trees... whoops.

Turns out I had the date on that 3DS turned waaayyy back, and now I have to carefully TT through seven months so I don't lose a villager when I reset the date.

D: D:

Been there before, was not fun. Especially since I dislike time-traveling.

I typically don't mind it, but having the change the system date in the 3ds is such a pain. Lol this isn't what I wanted to do with the rest of my afternoon

Oh gosh I hate that. I remember trying to tt by using the 3ds clock and not changing it in game and I swear my 3ds clock is broken or something T^T Like, I would tt an hour ahead and it would be the next day and Im like whaaa?? ]: So yeah

You can do it in one big jump without losing any villagers! Just keep playing in winter until someone pings you to move. Say no, save and quit and you can either put the cartridge in your usual 3DS or change the time in the old one and put it again and you won't lose anyone, guaranteed. You will have weeds and bed hair, though, and if you don't have beautiful town your flowers may die. :)

I have also had to do large jumps of time, and often no one would even move out. I think that when it comes to villagers moving, one TT = one day. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

That is actually incorrect, only time traveling backwards counts a day. If you go forward it's very possible to lose a villager. But if you do it right after denying a moving ping, the game doesn't set anyone to move out until you load the next day, so it's safe to jump forward, as the new mover won't be selected until after the jump. :)

Okay, disregard what I said then.
