Tumblr feelings

Honestly I hate tumblr but I use it occasionally to save references and art I like and stuff, I used to have one where I followed a bunch of blogs like that and it really messed up my mind so I just left it and made a new one- kinda felt pressured into thinking some ways because of certain posts sorta making me feel bad that I didn't think the ways that they did (like last year or so, I'm 14 too)

Idk if it's bad to say but I think you should just care less about all that stuff bc I mean yeah there's bad things happening but I dunno if anything we do on tumblr will really change anything or anyone, arguments and stuff on there just make people feel more negative. I agree with the people saying to unfollow those people unless you're really into that stuff but I think that it may just make you more bitter or narrow minded in those topics

okay, just gonna throw in my monopoly money and then leave
but! you're in a stage of life that's trying to figure everything out, and tumblr provides a lot of information at once. some of it is good, some of it is bad, and some of it is downright strange or completely unnecessary. i'd personally take what you've learned, try to sort it out, while not absorbing any more information. which means, get off tumblr.
don't call yourself a "special snowflake"; everything is weird and you're trying to figure out things and sometimes labels make you feel better! if you're genderqueer and that's what makes you comfortable, go ahead and tell the internet! it's not like anyone cares if you realize later on you're strictly on the binary.
just, you're not a bad person, okay? you're only fourteen and that's a young age to start thinking you're bad. that's for when you're like twenty or somethin

idk i've been in the same situation as you but i think i tried to figure it out so i'm just tryin to give some advice, haha

I'm otherkin too.

No, I'm not like the troll blogs on Tumblr that act like plants. Otherkin is basically a spiritual or psychological connection to something fictional or nonhuman. It could also be used as a coping skill involving identity. In my case, it's a spiritual connection. It's just a silly little part of me that makes me feel good. It's not really hurting anyone, as far as I can tell. Some people take it more seriously than I do (though not necessarily troll blog levels), but they're not hurting anyone either. It's just a harmless belief we have.

Tumblr's also a place where I've heard things such as the idea of sapiosexuality being ableist,

I always forget, what the **** is sapiosexuality?

and white people are racist by default (whether they intend to be or not) and I agree with a lot of those things, but aren't I supposed to accept people no matter what? The main way Tumblr affects me is that I'm absolutely horrified of being a bad person. I'm fourteen years old, I have a lot of time to change and grow, but what if I don't? What if it's like my music taste and I never bother venturing outside of what I like hearing? I want to be a nice person, but the truth is I'm absolutely bitter and hateful about anything I don't agree with (though this doesn't apply to minor things such as opinions on coleslaw). It's really, really hard for me to change my major opinions. It really sucks. I have a lot of feminist and social justice beliefs, and I base a lot of my opinions off of those, but I'm so scared of being morally wrong.

I just needed to rant a little. I know it seems like it has nothing to do with Tumblr, but a lot of my feelings expressed here are based off of that horribly functioning website. Thanks, and sorry if I offended anyone

Most Tumblr people don't admit that they're absolutely bitter and hateful so you've got that goin for you

Sapiosexiality is just the attraction to intelligent people

The whole "white people are born racist" thing is such bs and one reason I started being careful which blogs I follow. I seriously think Tumblr has gotten to the point of brainwashing people and it's ridiculous. I'm just there for the funnies and art which are the only blogs I follow. Any blog posting religious or political views on a regular basis is off my follow list. I can't say many other social media sites are any better than Tumblr. I also use Imgur frequently and overall the folks are decent, but there's still a lot of bad material and comments that end up on the front page. It's just really sad seeing how many views Tumblr has twisted and ingrained in people's minds.

when you said funnies i swear i thought it read furries and i was just D:

All I want to say is watch yourself. It's very easy to get caught up in Tumblr's social justice thing, and that leads to a lot of young, vunerable kids into being "brainwashed". Just remember you don't have to follow social justice blogs that make you uncomfortable or make you feel bad about yourself. You don't have to follow social justice blogs at all. Just unfollow them and don't listen to what they have to say. Most people on tumblr are anti social tweens who think they know everything about the world when they really don't. Tumblr should be a fun website, not a website that brings you down and upsets you.

I think the thing that bugs me about Sapiosexual so much is it's not really a sexuality, it's a preference and it's presented as such in a way to deliberately make other people look "less than".

Like yeah, it's fine to be attracted to intelligence, but to emphasize it to the point of classifying it as a sexuality honestly just looks like a way for people to rub their own ego more than anything else.

I mean, you don't have the preference of having a skinny or a fat partner listed as a sexuality, because that's a preference.

Now that I think about it
I may be remembering wrong but I'm pretty sure sapiosexuality started as a joke post and then people took it seriously and started actually using it to define themselves...

Tumblr is honestly just full of a bunch of whiny babies.
I think that it's probably bad for young kids (like 15 and below) because it convinces them of things that aren't real i.e. otherkin "galaxygendered" (which is just taking a piss on real transgendered people.) and converts these kids who don't have a mind of their own yet to these radical notions of justice (??).

The thing is, as you get older you'll understand just how much influence other people have on your mind, esp at 14. At 14, you're still a baby and I'm really sorry to anyone like 17 and younger, but you really don't know how to think for yourself yet because you don't know who you are yet.
I think it's okay to explore those parts of you, but you shouldn't let it consume you.

I think the transgendered thing bugs me the most though because before it was a fad, my best friend came out and it's been a terrible struggle for her and having all these babies playing gender dressup are making it even harder for the world to take seriously. It's like how it used to be cool to be gay.

Also, white people are not inherently racist. My grandmother grew up in a place with no one but white people, then moved to another state and found out that racism was a thing and was appalled. I'm not gonna lie and say white people aren't racist, because most of them are (i.e. people who are seriously still flying the confederate flag, you degenerates), but not everyone.

People shouldn't be put on a this rigid black or white scale (not race, like it's either this or this no inbetween) because that's not how people actually are. Grey areas do exist. But, again the problem with teenagers is that your brains are literally not developed enough to see that yet (depending on age. 15 and below are most prone to this). Your brain is not fully developed until like 21.

Anyway, I think it's not good to get too radical with things, but it's a futile attempt to convince teenagers as a whole not to because it's just how teenagers are.
As for the adults who still do this crap. They are probably actually mentally insane and you should stay away from them.
But, idk, if tumblr is hurting you, stop using it. Figure out who you are on your own terms and in time, you'll have your own opinions and own personality that is uniquely yours.

That's how a lot of things start on tumblr in all honesty.

It's a very weird cycle that a lot of people unfamiliar with the site don't really see.

>A small group starts something new
>Someone makes a satire blog and makes fun of it in some form, usually very exaggerated.
>A metric asston of people don't recognize the satire and take it wholeheartedly serious
>Now you have 2 groups of people: people who are defending it vehemently and another who are criticizing anybody who does the thing.

And it ends with a new, much more extreme version of the previous trend starting on the tumbler dot comm.

This is where the whole otherkin explosion came from.

People found out about the idea. Took it out of context. Exaggerated it and made fun of it, and turned it into something new.

*Reminisces about the old times like when people thought you could have infinite chocolate by cutting it a certain way*

You should have seen my tumblr from way back when. posts upon posts of "drinking man tears" and reblogged arguments between angry tumblrinas and some poor dude just because he

honestly, im chill with genderfluid, nonbinary, etc...it at least makes sense, as opposed to people whose genders' names are longer than dis dik

and honestly a ton of my old best online friends identified as an anime character of smth. they were chill about it tho, they always made jokes about "ive been kinstolen and im feeling so oppressed right now". and the friends who took it a little more seriously were still pretty chill unless someone intentionally tried to mess with them. if it makes you feel good, and it isn't harming anyone, i dont see why you can't do it. plus you're still young so who really minds?

and my tumblr phase was right around your age. i eventually grew out of it because my toxicity grew to a point where i realized it was almost out of hand, and i decided to just delete my tumblr. cold turkey. probably one of the better decisions of my life -- i gradually grew back to having views that were generally agreeable.

i feel like the one upside of going through a tumblr phase tho is that you've seen everything, so you can use your best judgement to shape your own beliefs and find a comfortable middle ground between ignorance and extremity.

TLDR tho if you like your beliefs/views and you believe in them, and they aren't hurting anyone or unnecessarily unfair ("ALL white people should die" sort of thing), there's really nothing wrong with believing them. if you have good intentions and a normal sense of morale then it'll all work out in the end.

excuse me fukking r*de i identify as a grey wolf and i wear my fursuit to school so i can express who i am, eff off honestly

Honestly it's all about the community you build for yourself, I quit tumblr for a good long while because I didn't like what it was turning into, but then I realized it wasn't tumblrs fault, it was the people I was following, and so I started to un-follow A LOT of people, like upwards of 200 of them, yeah, it's a lot. I kept my close friends and blogs I actually cared about (mostly themed side blogs) that didn't post things I didn't want to see. And now I am happily back on tumblr. I mostly just follow blogs about reptiles and ACNL/HHD, and then a few of my old tumblr friends and IRL friends now so my board is pretty great now. But honestly even now there is still going to be drama and stuff, I mean there was just a huge fight with lots of the retiblr people, which was really random because the community is so great but thankfully I don't get many posts I don't want on my dash, it's pretty chill so I mean, don't be fast to blame tumblr itself, just get rid of the people posting things you don't like.

Most Tumblr people don't admit that they're absolutely bitter and hateful so you've got that goin for you

like eeveyrone i know including myself talk about how much they hate themselves and want to commit nsuicide who do yo uevern ofllow,

stpe rule one of tubmtl is to prais esuicide and be edgy and cool and cry abotu how much you hate the world

If tumblr is giving you bad vibes, just delete your account and don't go on it. You can escape it you know lol.

i mean
tumblr is a pretty big community?? just unfollow blogs that post stuff that gives you bad vibes or something idk.

many people mean that tumblr is just sjw Hell but i mean....... there are a ton of sides to tumblr that aren't sj at all?? idk i personally use tumblr quite a lot but not for community stuff, i just use it for memes, aesthetics and animal crossing lmao ;;

also who tf calls themself sapiosexual w/o being an actual meme

A lot of people are saying stuff like "you're following the wrong people" but don't worry, if a blog makes me uncomfortable I do unfollow it. Sometimes it takes a while to gather the courage, but I do end up doing it.
And keep in mind, a lot of my feelings also come from the negative stigma surrounding tumblr.

For now, just deleting my account isn't a good option for me, because of reasons I'd rather not talk about right now. Besides, good things come out of Tumblr too. There are things there that make me really happy.
