Trouble finding fossils?

Back when I still needed fossils, I remember having a hard time finding a few. But they're always there. Always check right behind rocks, trees, bushes, and villager houses etc. It gets harder the more you landscape. But if it's really an issue, you can cover your town in patterns and just force them to spawn in certain areas until your museum is complete?
I used to have a hard time finding some of them back when I was still collecting them, and gyroids can still be an issue for me at times. I walk around me town in a specific pattern to make sure I've looked everywhere and haven't missed a single hiding spot. Use the camera angles to your advantage to see behind buildings and trees. For things that don't disappear when you change the camera angle, like rocks, bushes, and flowers, sometimes I'll just randomly dig behind them. Bushes are particularly good at obscuring a dig spot, so if I haven't found what I'm looking for, I'll go back and dig behind every bush that has an open space behind it. I've also found it's difficult to see dig spots on dirt when they're hidden behind flowers, so look closely at any areas like that.
I agree that the more you landscape your town, the more difficult it can become to find all your fossils and gyroids. You end up creating more hiding places for them. But forcing them to spawn in a designated area is a great idea.

Funny, I'm the opposite. When my towns are empty and new, I have a hard time finding then because they can be anywhere. I often times find gyroids the day after it rained. When my towns has landscaping, it forces them on my dirt paths, empty house plots, and other barren areas. But I also cover my towns with flowers so there's that.
The force spawning works, putting QRs down to prevent then from spawning in other places. Also, try a different perspective. Look at a piece of land from below, above, ect... Sounds weird but sometimes I'll walk by a piece of land from below, but then when I'm above it I'll see a a dig spot or something.
