Do you have a trigger finger when it comes to fishing (or anything in the game)? I have a really bad one, and I mess up a lot because of it, lol. I usually close my eyes when I fish and just listen to the sounds, but I can't say it helps me that much anymore.

i usually count bites.. haha. because the fish will bite no more than like... i think 4 times. but recently i've been trying the sound method with sharks because with sharks i tend to hesitate a little too much and always wind up missing the damned thing.

I've had some river fish bite 5 times, which really messes with me.

I am a fishing pro! Seriously, I've been fishing since the orginal Zelda so I've got like twenty years under my belt, lol. Out of a hundred fish, I might miss 1 or 2. I am old :)

fish can only hit your line a max of 5 times- so the 5th time must be a bite. I use the method of holding the DS up to my ear and listening for the nibbles/bite, while holding my thumb over the button for reeling in the line.

I'm always so jerky when it come to sneaking around for beetles... If I had a bell for every gold stag I've missed because of this... I'd never have to worry about paying for PWPs ever again! ꒰˘̩̩̩⌣˘̩̩̩๑꒱♡

Er yeah I definitely have developed preemptive trigger response when fishing visually. I never used to have it, it just took my brain so long to register the splash and I missed stuff, and then I ended up becoming too twitchy. So these days I usually just listen to the sound without looking at the screen, and I don't generally miss anything this way.

LOL, I do the same! But only when catching sharks or something big xD I usually do all my fishing and catching on the island for the bells .. Oh when will I finish my collection book xD

I am pretty bad and reeling it in to fast. I just put ths ds to my ear nownand wait til i hear it snag it. Works great for me.

I had bad trigger finger it still creeps up on me. You need to stay calm. I missed 8 sharks once but i went to the island and practised on the fishing games there, It helped me so much. I learnt that the second they bite, you reel in. I try to do that with all fish, though, some are forgiving. I suggest going to the games and practising on your own, there's a lot of fish then.

Edit: Also if i mute and just look a the screen i miss every single fish...i guess it just depends.

Omg this happens to me all the time XD

I'm always either too early or too late when I'm trying to catch sharks.

Only when I'm catching something worth a lot of money..hehe

It's like I concentrate extra and the pressure psyches me out xD

I usually count bites too for fishing as sometimes I get an itchy trigger finger more so when its a shark or massive species of fish with the fin sticking out the water haha, I hate the way the fish teases you and then sometimes GETS AWAY WITH THE BAIT! gah like that is so frustrating for me, you think you nabbed it and it swims off, literally does my head in :(

What helps me when fishing is I turn the volume up first. When I see the fish is going toward the bait, I close my eyes. I have my finger hovering over the button and I press it as soon as I hear the fish bite. That works better for me than watching. When I watch, I often press before I should. I guess my trigger finger is bad. LOL

watching without noise is too hard at the island imo, where you dont have your silver/gold fishing rod and the forgiveness they grant you...

I used to play WW a lot and as soon as I got NL it just messed with my head that it made a sound every single time it touched the bait - it didn't in WW so as soon as you heard a sound you just reeled it in - so I had developed a really good trigger finger there, but now it's just.. messed up.
