Tree Won't Grow?

Sorry for the crappy photo.

Anyway, I've been trying to plant an apple tree where my mayor is standing, but everytime it wilts. I've watered it, and I've even tried planting a different type of tree, but it wilted too. Why won't the tree grow? It's a space away from the trees surrounding it, so I don't see how that could be a problem. Is it because of the flowers? Will trees not grow if there's flowers next to it? But if that were the case, none of the other trees would've grown.

Is there any explanation as to why a tree won't grow in that spot?

If it is less than one diagonal space apart from the other trees it won't grow so you should prob check for that

I heard from someone that there are "dead spots" where trees don't grow?

Oh and also--- "You cannot have more than 15 saplings (hibiscuses and trees) in a 5x5 square area. If you have more than that, then trees will not grow."
