I think that the stale cakes are actually worth less than the market price for carnations. I paid like 330 for my Cake if I remember correctly. You might have to haggle, or throw in some small collectibles/bells. Just some friendly advice, and good luck

some people are actually selling their carnations for 300TBT that i've seen? so i'm pretty sure you can find. carnations go for 300-500 from what i see so ya just find someone willing to sell on the lower end of the guide or someone who doesn't care about guide prices
