Toy day 2025 different from online guide ?

Happy toy day everyone! I am all dressed up in my santa outfit ready to go gift my last villager a gift. Online I read stuff about clues and villager specific gifts, I was worried about having to buy stuff. But I got a magic bag, so I am happy about that xD
However no villager has called me santa :^(
This is my first time playing this event, so I was wondering if it's true they changed the event a bit. If so are you guys happy with the changes?

The part with the specific gifts for villagers was a thing in New Leaf. But you can buy them a random toy and gift it to them and they will give you a gift in return. But it only works on Toy Day.

Yeah, the villagers won't call you Santa unfortunately in this game, They would know it's you right off the bat and just say you're his helper.
