So, I'm having some trouble with my town...

Originally I wanted an easy going rainy forest type town, with just villagers I liked but didn't already have, while still getting at least one of each personality, and kind of did a mix of "goth" and "cute" villagers. I ended up planning it out a lot, because I don't know how to do easy going... Now there are defined streets but still lots of trees and bushes and it's turning out really nice.

My mayor is me and my plan for her house was to have a normal first floor (kitchen, living room, office) and then a goth basement to represent my gothy side, and a cute upstairs to represent my cutesy side.

I knew I wanted to make only one other villager, I have the space set up for them and everything, but here in lies the problem... Initially I figured I'd make just a tiny one room house and make them a "maintenance man" because I needed them just to hold the tiles for my pathways, and I thought it'd be funny to have like a weird guy with a mustache and a hardhat just wandering around my town.

BUT NOW, I realize there are too many gothy things for one room, and far too many cute things for just one room... And since I have the split in my villagers of cute and goth, maybe I should make the other character the other part of me? The cute part that I hide deep down inside past my skeleton bones...

So I'm conflicted... Should I waste a bunch of time and money making a whole second cute house? Or should I just narrow down my collection into my one house and make my maintenance man?

Hey! If it were me I would spend the time and money making the cute house on the second character, especially because your going with a rainy forest theme I think having a maintenace man wouldn't fit the town really. Another idea you COULD do for your second character would be to have a house/room thats full of plants? Almost like a little indoor garden, that could be fun especially because of what your town theme is.

At the end of the day, would you rather spend the time and effort and money to make a really nice looking cutesy house? I feel like it'd be worth the effort once its finished! And that means you can have your main characters house a bit more goth seeing as you have a lot of stuff for it! Thats my two cents :)

Yeah, I think a second cutesty house is the way to go as well. Plus as Quacky said, a maintenance man in a rainy forest town doesn't make entire sense, what is he maintaining?

I’d say go for the second house!
I myself had a hard time separating cute from gothic, so I I settled on just one theme and separated the houses a little by gothic colors. Definitely would of had a hard time designing a house with two themes.

I agree with the other posters, definitely go with the second house! Your town seems very well thought out and having a properly designed second house themed around part of the town's aesthetic would fit that better than the maintenance man IMO.
