How do you guys pick where to place PWPs? I keep staring at my map, and I just have no idea of where I want to put anything except the windmill, which I haven't even unlocked yet! I've also got an idea for where to put the Reset Surveillance Center (in the same spot I use for temp houses when plot resetting), but I'm not going to place it until I have all my dreamies.

I can't figure out where I want to put the campsite, the Roost, or the police station, and it's driving me nuts. I can't even figure out where to put my other two bridges. I'm less worried about the bridges - if I don't like the location, I can delete them. But the permanent PWPs worry me.

Well I have 10 villagers and a path around town so when I do my pwps I just pick places with a lot of empty space and what will go in which space.

Sorry it took so long! I had to take a screenshot of it with my phone, fail to upload it via my phone because holy crap, this site's interface does not like mobile users, then upload it to photobucket, then move to my computer because the upload window still wouldn't cooperate with me, then realize that the image was inordinately huge for some reason and needed to be resized and AAAAAHHHH I HATE COMPUTERS

Anyway, here's the map. The houses to the left of the river are staying, as are the one to the right of the upper pond, and the one immediately below the lower pond (Deirdre plotted in a less-than-ideal spot, but I'm willing to work with it. She's just gonna have to deal with being Resetti's neighbor).

Thank you for any help!

No need to rush in getting those permanent PWPs down! Do you plan on having paths? If you do, it helps to plot a couple of paths first, then you can sort of fill in the gaps.

i placed my houses, and set up my campsite first. and started paths and just added from there. you'll change a lot of things around, so be nice to yourself. just do it bit by bit. i found when i try to plan out a whole town it becomes overwhelming so it's best to just start with one tin section, and add on from there. piece by piece. :D

I usually let the landscape dictate where certain PWPs go--for example, if the land juts out in a random bump (like it does at the top left of your map; the round bump that juts into the river), I'll put a streetlight or bench or something in that area, along with bushes or flowers to make everything look intentional. Looking at your map, I would want to put either the cafe or the campsite (tent and log bench or stumps and/or campfire, if it all fits) in that cool jutting out area just to the right of your river. It's such a defined area that it's dying for something significant to go there. If you did that, you might want to replace the existing bridge with a horizontal one on the straight part of the river towards the top of your map. I also think the lighthouse, if you are planning on building one eventually, would be nice toward the cliff edge next to your house (though it makes me think...if this were real life, I wouldn't want a lighthouse beam shining into my bedroom.) :p

your town tree is way up there by itself-- i would start thinking about what you want to design around the plaza- flowerbeds, pathways, park benches, non-mayor player houses...?

When you refer to the jutting out area to the right of the river, do you mean that neat little bump in the riverbend, or the cliff next to the ramp?

Also, I had thought about building the lighthouse there! Maybe if I do, I'll have my bedroom on the lower right, and put my sewing room/parlor on the upper floor. Or I could be a huge jerk and put the guest room up there. >3

I may put the police station or cafe near the plaza. It seems like a logical spot for either one.

The bump in the riverbend. The cliff by the ramp might be a good place for a streetlamp, though, to light the way for people coming up and down from the beach at night.
LOL at your possible guest room location!

I'm actually tentatively planning on only having a single street lamp, in a little clearing surrounded by trees. (Major points to anyone who gets what I'm referencing here.)

I dunno, I may use more, and then still have the one in the clearing? I'm just so keen on the idea of having an Easter egg/shoutout in my town.

is your town called Narnia??

Dingdingding, we have a winner!

I thought about replacing one of my dreamies with a lion, just to take the reference a little further, but I don't think I'm gonna go that far for one Easter egg. :P I like the dreamies I've got.

Oh, I love it! Yes, I definitely think that if you're going to have the special Narnia street lamp, that it should be the only one. :D

I tend to walk around and see what the landscape is like. If there's a particular place I think something will look good then I speak to Isabelle and get her to show me what the area will look like. 90% of the time I go with it, 10% of the time I think it looks awful and I don't.

I always knew I wanted my police station near my Main Street (cause I expected my villagers to be quite rowdy ;)) so that was easy. When it came to building the Roost I just chose an area of town that I thought it fit in best.
