Recently, I've been really interested in making my town look good. I've already got the paths set up, so now it's the tree placement, bushes, ect. Any tips?
Visit a lot of pretty dream towns and see what landscaping speaks to you the most!
I like some areas to be of one combination of colors and then transition into another color area.
Around Mira's house and the Cafe, I have a path of lemon trees and yellow flowers of all types.
Inbetween Rory and Julian's house I have kind of a rainbow gradient of various flowers in a garden.
I think a lot of the times having a line of bushes in-between a path and a line of trees can be pretty. Bushes to line paths in general are nice when you can work them… or putting a hedge of bushes and/or flowers around a PWP.
But I'd suggest looking at more dream towns to get your inspiration going. There are lots of different ways to do landscaping styles...

I normally suggest doing up the areas around villager houses next.
Trees, Bushes, and Flowers that look pretty with their house.
After that, start lining paths with either flowers, bushes, trees, or a combination of all of them.
... just remember if you are doing tree and bushes you first have to plant the trees and then the next day plant the bushes.
After paths and villager houses are all decorated... work on adding PWPs and decorations around them. =3
Also, I find it prettier to mix different types of flowers and different colors...
Like around Julian's house I have blue roses and blue pansies...
Around muffy I have purple pansy, black rose, and pink carnation...
And Flurry has blue pansies, pink lilies, and pink carnations.
They combinations look good together and it looks better then doing all the same colors or all the same type of flower.
I just unlocked T.I.Y in my cycle town, but already filling bush orders with it... so I won't be messing with bushes until further into the future.
