Town cursed?

So I started a new town yesterday, and it?s current day and time. However I have not seen butterflies in this town yet. I also have been fishing the same fish: Puffer fish, Sweetfish, Bluegill. What do I do? Is my town cursed.

I'm pretty sure more butterflies would spawn if you planted more flowers but you just started fresh in your town. Also, butterflies won't appear at all if it's raining so don't even bother to try and find them during those times. I don't know about the fishing part so I got nothing. Hope this helps you in some way.

Thanks for answering but it’s not raining or anything and I have quite a lot of flowers lol. I had Katrina in my town and she said if I don’t get a short-sleeve dress I will have bad luck with items.

I don't think there's any such thing as a cursed town, lol? It's only been a day, give it some time. I didn't see any butterflies for a while after I reset too.

I do believe some towns are luckier than others, but that's just a personal belief. I didn't realize until I got a new copy of the game. In my old copy I kept the same town since release date because I'm persistent like that... but in this new town I'm noticing the same items don't show up over and over again with little variety in the shops like they did in my first town and more/better bugs and fish have been showing up. I don't know...

Those fish are probably just common seasonal fish. I’ve never experienced bad luck messing with my fish/bug RNG though, but probably because I wasn’t paying much attention.

Actually, when your town is created, there are 3 different groups of items. Your town will be assigned one of these groups. Towns with a certain group will more commonly have items from that group. It's not impossible to get items from other groups, but it is significantly rarer.

Actually, when your town is created, there are 3 different groups of items. Your town will be assigned one of these groups. Towns with a certain group will more commonly have items from that group. It's not impossible to get items from other groups, but it is significantly rarer.

To add on to what you are saying about items Maple and basing upon what Starfall has said about their town, could it be possible that fish/diving critters/bugs are treated the same way? The only reason why I wonder this is that I had missing creatures to catch and I found that going to a different seemed to affect what I caught (I found my last 2 diving creatures just by going to a different town in a single sitting [Oyster and Horseshoe crab] which is crazy to me since I spent hours in my own town the same time of year and never got either. What is your thought on this hypothesis?

I don't know about that. Item groups are a proven thing across all games, but I haven't heard anything about fish/bug groups.

This could be something to look into, I also remember something similar as far back as Wild World (I think it also happened to me in City Folk as well, but I can't remember it specifically). My brother had a copy of Wild World as well, but he couldn't ever seem to catch the Football Fish until he visited my town (same scenario as before, same time of year and time of day) which makes me wonder if this feature was subtle and has always been there.

That's sad that you haven't seen a butterfly and been catching the same fish, to me it sounds like a cursed town. Hope you get your new town turn out great as you had in mind.
