I picked up hacking mainly because I just wasn't satisfied with the maps the game was giving me - Seeing so many frustrated and desperate posts by players in a similar situation has led me to this idea:

I'd like to offer what would essentially be a town-creation service, including the town's map layout, native fruit and grass, as well as placement of buildings and rocks.

For now, I want to see if there would be interest in such a service and, most importantly, whether it would be in compliance with forum rules. If it is, I'd love to help players break out of their constant reset-cycle and find the town of their dreams ;3

Well how would you go about doing this? Would i need to hack my old 3ds xl? I have a ChromeBook, and I can't figure out how to hack my 3ds on it...

Um while this sounds great... How exactly will you give them the map? In order to import a map (or essentially a save) you would need access to homebrew/a hacking method in the first place? If they can hack, they wouldn't be resetting constantly right? I feel like if they're savvy enough to hack, they can make whatever changes they like. I heard somewhere you can hack online but you can only make changes to rocks and not something drastic as map editing. But I could be wrong.

As ~Unicorn~ said, I can't give any specific details here (though I assume I could privately, if the service is deemed acceptable by forum staff)

But no, you would not have to hack your system in any way (all hacking would be done by me, using my DS and computer). I would however need your cartridge. This would have to be on a basis of trust, where it is sent to me and then returned to you once the town has been edited

Basically answered in my response to Allure - I would need the person's game cartridge. The hacking can be done through my DS. I agree that the offer would be redundant if it required people to hack their system xD

This is supposed to help those who either can't hack, don't want to invest the time, or are nervous to on their own system

Oh you're talking about mailing cartridges... Honestly I would say this service sounds like a bit of a hassle... You have to mail something out and wait for it to come back. In the case someone changes their minds, that's a huge headache. Part of a map is how it looks when you're in it as well, and not just looking at the editor. There's the risk of the mailing system damaging/losing someone's cartridge as well .__. Plus it's not free to mail things either.

I don't have reset syndrome like many people here so I can't say for them if the benefits outweigh the cons. u__u

I can see it being considered a hassle for some and worth the effort for others *shrug* I'd personally prefer it to spending hours talking to Rover and still only settling for a decent map, and I figured so might some people as well.

People already trade and ship amiibo cards (unless I misunderstood that process) through the forum, so there isn't that much of a difference between them and a cartridge (especially considering that the value of some of the cards is similar to the cost of the game at this point)

You do make a good point though in that this is not everyone's idea of convenient. For now I'm just gaging interest :3

Well I'd be interested if I wasn't 13... My parents would be mad if they even knew I was using the forum so.... :( Otherwise I'd do it!

You know, I'm really glad you brought that up, because it's probably true that you shouldn't be exchanging your address with strangers on the internet. I actually think it's very mature of you to be honest about it :3

Yeah there really isn't a point in doing this, if the person has homebrew access they can do this themself, and what's the point of mailing cartridges when it's 10x easier to just hack their map themself. I'm sorry but this is really pointless.

Why, thank you very much! I'm glad you think it was mature of me, I just wish other's my age wouldn't make rash decisions, because, sadly, there are some that do...

I don't know about you but I would be pissed if my cartridge got lost vs a couple of amiibo cards even if the money value equals o; People here have spent countless hours on this game. An amiibo card is a piece of paper. Plus when you're mailing the game, that's weeks of them not being able to play. I mean that's not crippling but it does suck.

I'm assuming that most people would be sending new copies of the game, not cartridges that have weeks-worth of playtime on them. If someone wants me to edit a town they've already invested time in I will, but I agree that I personally wouldn't want to do that with my established game.

As far as shipping time goes, it should be under two weeks. Again, I'm not the one deciding whether that's worth someone's time or not

Some people don't know how to set up home brew, others just don't want it on their system. Yes, to people who have hacked it seems horribly unnecessary, but I can't count how many times I've seen people here say that they would love to hack their game if they could - this is a way to help those players who can't themselves

Then they could learn how to? It's really easy. If they don't want it, they can just hack and then easily remove it. Just delete a folder and a game, simple.
Shipping games really isn't safe, as we don't actually know who you are and what you will do to the game. The game could also get lost in the mail, or not ship successfully. Boom, game lost. And, shipping can cost money.
Still pointless, really. A simple thing that can be done by themself, why go through all this?

Like I said, maybe they just don't want to hack themselves.

Yes, there are things that could go wrong, and yes, any person can prove to be untrustworthy. I fully admit that making any transaction like this comes with risks. It can also be very rewarding though :3

Overall I think your interest in something you consider so pointless is kind of...pointless. You don't need help with your town, don't trust me, think it's unnecessary - well, then don't get the service. It's pretty simple

I actually find this idea really interesting! I have an old 3ds with 11.4 (or is it 1.4? Idk it's the one you can't hack on lol) so I can't do any hacking in my town. I've reset hundreds of times since I started playing because of one thing or another. Trying really hard to cut that out but I assume I would be happier if I could hack the problems away once they start to bug me.

ok, but im just saying its not very necessary. people can hack themselves, i dont exactly see why they would send their game to a stranger than could be in a whole different country when they can do this themself simply.

You should be able to now :3 But if you can't for some reason, feel free to PM me!

There's a better way instead of mailing the cartridge.

There's an application called "Team viewer" where you and other people can access each other computers with permission.
I've used it many times and it's COMPLETLEY SAFE.
In order to make the other person to use it , you have to give them a random given PC ID and password (The password and ID change every 30Secs which makes it safe).
And you can end the session at any time you like.

Using this app a lot of artists taught me how to draw. It's very very helpful.
