I have 5 as well, and I love them! I know that not having cranky villagers will prevent me from getting some PWPs, but I think villagers are more important! I think the Normal villagers are the best!

Too many of the same villager type?

From my view, that many villagers of the same personality would drive me insane. I get tired of having three of the same personality, sometimes even two. I would get bored hearing the same dialogue from the normals over and over again. I think having many personalities gives more variety. It's like having an outfit with only ONE COLOR.
Okay, looking at the vast majority of responses saying I should go for some variety, I've replaced im one of the normals on my dream list with a cranky... but I still won't have any peppy or jock villager types. To be honest though, I largely find jock dialogue annoying, and peppy is significantly similar to Uchi for me, so I'm happy with it.
I have 4 normals and planning on adding a 5th soon 
After playing the game for nearly a year, I don't speak to my villagers as much anymore, so the repetitive conversations don't bother me as much. But yeah, I would get all the PWP requests that you want before letting unwanted villagers go

I like to have at least one of each personality type for the sake of dialogue variety. And no more than two of the same. I had three normal villagers I really adored, but I still let one go for that reason.
If you aren't bothered by the repetitive dialogue, I don't see any reason to kick out villagers you like. P:

In my opinion, having 5 of the same personality would be too much for me. But they have such cute designs, so why not? :] I'll find it boring though! but all up to you!
You should do whatever makes you happy and what you enjoy. You're the one playing your game afterall.
For me, I prefer to have a variety of villagers and to have no more than two of each personality type. I would get really bored with five normals, and I also want to be able to unlock all of the PWPs. The dialogue would get a bit too repetitive for my liking!
