the game dosent reset after you sell stuff. if you sold it the you reset and it will be like you started earlier and you still have crown

I sold the crown to nook, thought I had it in pockets, did some stuff, saved, restarted then did some more stuff, checked pockets and didn't see it, checked house and didn't see it.
