Today's update - a restriction

Can you use a card for say, Bunnie and have her move in. Then have her move out and use a card again immediately? Or would you have to do the dreaded 16 villager cycle?

that is very upsetting. I have 5 more villagers to move in, in two of my main towns.. so this means i have to get my dreamies by myself in my cycle towns.
How about if a villager moves naturally? will they be in boxes? can others still adopt?

Guys. Plot resetting IS still possible. I just did it with my accidentally restarted 2nd town. I got Charlise, and then I got Olaf. In different spots.

First impression of update: This is the best thing ever!

After finding out plot resetting is gone: **** you Nintendo!!!

I believe plot resetting is still available. I mean when I scanned in Julian he placed a plot somewhere random. I didn't try to plot reset him but I think it should still be an option. Right now I'm curious what wisp will say if I scan Julian's card when I already have him in town ^^

So from what I'm getting plot resetting regular villagers (adoption, random) still works as it did but scanned villagers cannot be plot reset. I guess that makes sense given the cards follow different rules than normal. (Being able to move villagers in/out instantly, negating the 16-viallger cycle)

I guess that means..... The villager trading plaza is still going to be alive!!!

Plot resetting doesn't work. I've been trying to plot Teddy for over an hour and he kept coming back to the exact same spot every time. I ended up going back to the day I asked him to move in and setting a temp PWP in the spot he kept plotting in to block it off. I'm hoping he'll find a better spot that's not near a bridge this time.

I'm sort of confused when you said O'Hare wasn't in boxes because when I kicked out both Elmer and Timbra, they were in boxes as soon as I left my house after speaking to Wisp. They end up in boxes the same day you scan an amiibo card and ask the Villager to move in. Then the next day they plot. Then their house is erected the following day.

Even more interesting was that Elmer was ready to leave my town anyway, but in 8 more days, so I was still able to kick him out ahead of schedule.

Wait, and where did you get Teddy?

You do not have to do the 16 villager cycle anymore. I was able to move Chadder back when and he had just moved out yesterday.

I am going to try tomorrow moving him out and back in using his card to see if I can land him in a better spot

wait is plot resetting not allowed at all or just with amiibo cards?

No

I do not know about the natural way, if that will work as it did before

Hopefully someone will try this out soon. If not, I may try it tomorrow

I made the mistake of assuming he would be in boxes the next day, I had not immediately gone to his house to check.

I invited him to move in via card.
Phew, that was a close one.

But you know, if Nintendo doesn't look after this.

Wow, this is terrible. I still need half of my dream villagers for my final town and this just throws a wrench in everything. Wonder which of them is going to decide to smack their house down a few steps outside my door. :/

Honestly the wildest guess I can take is this:

Getting the villagers to plot in the game via Amiibo requires a new set of programming codes. Of course when adding new programming, you want to make sure it doesn't clash with what's already there. Of course there are people who want to update the game, but not necessarily to move villagers in via cards, so you've got to keep the coding for the villager cycling intact. Being able to invite villagers instantly without doing the 16 cycle goes directly against the game's old code so the cards follow a different set to negate that without causing things to go haywire.

Since selecting a villager to move puts them in boxes instantly I'm guessing plot resetting scanned villagers could be done with placing marker pwp in restricted areas and re-inviting them until you're content with their placement. Just a guess. I really wish I had a test town to try natural adoptions in.
