Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this thread. One of the reasons I didn't get the game until 5 months after release was the design aspect of the game... thinking I needed to have that skillset to be any good at it. But I liked New Leaf so much, I decided to give it a try anyway... super glad I did, even though the bouts of uncertainity came by every now and again
I've watched so much AC content on YouTube since launch and it's definitely a double-edged sword. You get lots of inspiration, but you also reach a point where the things you haven't figured out bug you so much that you can't appreciate what you've done right.
It's reassuring to read so many people that haven't gotten it together and are completely fine with that.
I think the only issue I've ever had with my island is the location of my airport. Everyone else with more room to work with always seem to have way better entrances

but I think I finally got something together that works. It turns out all I was missing was symmetry, haha.
Essentially, we all need to figure out what works for us. And if something doesn't gel right away, it's ok to walk away for a bit and come back later.
