I have 2 towns. In my main I have Brewster & The Roost. I love Brewster and the cafe works in Cutetown. Today in my second town of Sheepish, Blathers finally talked to me about letting Brewster open the cafe. At first I was excited because like I said - I love Brewster. After a second I realized there might be a problem. The theme I have going in Sheepish is "family farm". A coffee cafe doesn't really fit in with a farm theme. Now I don't know what to do.

Should I have Brewster & the Roost in my farm themed town? Should I just have him in my main & leave him out of my second town? What would you all do? Thanks!

I had this same dilemma in Arcana — why would there be a coffeeshop in a forested magic town? Alas I got too excited to see Brewster and built it anyway, and now I can't demolish it.

I say if you're on the fence, don't do it! The cafe takes up a lot of space and doesn't really match a farm town, plus you can get the pleasure of getting coffee in your other town.

This is my big concern - that it can't be demolished once it's built. I think my main problem is Blather's line about the "fate of my [his] friend" being in my hands. Way to jerk those heart strings, Blathers.

A lot of dairy farms have their own farmer's markets or creameries. No reason you couldn't treat the caf? as an ice cream shop if you are role-playing anyways.

I think if you really want the cafe, you could find a way to make it work. Is your entire town considered part of the family farm? If so, how do Retail and Town Hall work into that theme? Could you place the cafe near them or even in it's own separate area, using landscaping to create a seclude path to it or something, like it's just outside of the farm?

Before you place it, make sure you definitely want it and are happy with the placement, though, since it is permanent.

I honestly can't tell you what you should do, because it isn't really in my place to do so. So instead, I'll say this:

If you have to ask if you should or shouldn't, doesn't it sort of give yourself the answer? If you don't feel it fits, but want to know what others will say, it sort of gives the vibe of "I want it, but I should ask others to see if I'm justified in doing it even though it doesn't fit the theme I'm going for."

I know it sounds really condescending, but I can't really word it any better. For me, I'm voting "No", but again, I can't really tell you what to do.

I'd add one, in my opinion it fits the theme fine.. I'd love to buy some good coffee when I visit a family farm! :)

I think a cafe would still fit the theme! When I think of family farm, I think of one of the petting zoos out of town which is family owned and it has a great little cafe there (which does great peppermint tea lol). There's a few farms around that have their own fresh milk to sell, so you could pretend that Brewster uses the fresh milk to make his coffee. I also love Brewster as a character, so that's a bonus too for having a cafe. The cafe isn't super modern looking either, it's kinda cosy and traditional so it won't stand out too much. So I'd say yes!

I feel like it would actually match your town, but if you don't think you'd want it, stray from it.

Growning up in the south, we have a lot of family owned bakeries and coffee shops. So I think it would be cute and fit. Plus the building isn't loud as something as the exterior of Retail.

I think it'd be cute in your town.

There are such things as "coffee farms" so I think a coffee place would be fine!

I actually think it fits the theme, you know like the little stores or cafes near farms? They're not directly beside it but in the same area pretty much. I think it will look nice

Thank you for all for your advice & input! I've read all your posts and the one that really resonated with me was Khaelis'. After really thinking about how I want Sheepish to grow and ultimately look I realized that Brewster & The Roost just won't fit with what I'm going for. I think my head might have known that but my heart felt like debating the matter for the love of Brewster. lol!

To be honest if I had the option of not having Re-Tail or the Town Hall in Sheepish proper I wouldn't have them. I wish they were available on Main Street in this instance.

Thank you all again for your help!

You're welcome! Again, sorry if it came off a bit blunt and/or condescending. But sometimes you just have to ask really blunt and condescending questions to yourself to get to an answer.

Your post didn't come off as blunt or condescending at all. It struck me as an honest & truthful response. That's why it resonated so strongly with me. As soon as I read it I knew that I had known the answer all along but just didn't want to accept it. lol! I still love Brewster but in this instance the cafe itself just won't work with my plan. Plus I can always spend my days sipping Pigeon Milk Lattes in The Roost in my main town. :)
