To all the purists out there, do you ever just have those "ARGHHHHH" moments?

I was missing one single fish before October: the saddled bicher. But alas, midnight rolled around, and it is now gone... until June. JUNE. I'm a purist so TT is a no-no, and fishing on Southern Hemisphere islands ruins the fun; I want it to come from MY island.

To all my fellow purists, do you ever just have moments like this that just make you regret everything you've ever known? 🙃 Or is it just me?

YES. This happened to me with the Horned Hercules! I might go try and catch one at a southern hemisphere island but, yeah, like you said, I want it to come from my island! Naturally!!

Okay, so I'm not alone on this! I really wish Nintendo would've made the wildlife leave after 5 AM when the new day starts like everything else.

I’m not particularly bothered about it. I want to focus on getting my island to look nice first and foremost I think. And, since Nintendo said they plan on updating the game for years, I figure I have time.

I tried to catch the thing last night but couldn't find one. I'm not purist enough to insist it has to be on my island, but I'm not going out of my way to fish in multiplayer, so it's effectively the same.

I was literally up until 3 am the morning before August ended to try and catch the Golden and the Giant Stag, and now I have to wait until next July. And until then, I'm gonna have to look at my Museum and see that I have two empty bug slots that could've been filled but, alas, it was not meant to be...yet.

This was me with the stringfish at the beginning of the game. So I gotta wait for my golden reel until December. I haven’t missed any since though.

Not me, if there's something I'm missing and it's nearing the end of the month, I make it my mission to catch it.

I try to catch all the critters the first time, but after I missed a handful in July when I took a long break, my attitude is much more "oh well, I'll get 'em next year."
It sounds like there's going to be a lot of new content over the next few years, so hopefully I'll be playing anyway. Or maybe that one last bug or fish will draw me back in. I'm actually wondering if they might add more over the next year or two anyway. Seems like an easy enough thing to do, relative to an entire event.

I’m not a purist but I do try to catch most things on my island. If I can’t, I have no problem catching it in a friend’s town. But I have this bad habit of always attempting to catch things on the last day of the season. The last day of beetle season was just me spending hours on a NM island to find like one thing I saw plenty of before but for some reason wasn’t spawning anymore. I even managed to catch a stringfish on the last day of September on a friend’s island 😅 I really need to work on doing the most at the start of each month because I always forget to do it until the last minute and resort to finding them elsewhere.

I didn't realise that the achievements for the bug off (and all of the bug off events in general) are in the summer months. Somehow assumed that there was one for every season, like the fishing tourney has it.

Sooo I didn't participate in the August bug off at all since I had all the trophies and prizes, then realised my mistake last week when I got the fourth achievement in that series.

The temptation to time travel back to August is getting pretty huge right now. But I think it'll just have to wait until next year. I am not a smart person. 🥺

The short answer is "no." I missed catching a stringfish last March. I will wait for next time then.

I’m only missing the cicada shell, worst part is I encountered only one in a +1000 hours playthrough, but missed that one with my net and it fell off the tree. Guess I’ll have to wait until July 2021. o_O

I've definitely had those! Mostly surrounding the bug off and fishing contest nook miles goal, but also with forgetting to trade in my heart crystals during wedding season...

They weren't bothering me *that* much, but they were bothering me enough to make me stop being a purist and spend a boring vacation day time-travelling. It was more to have something to do than to have all the goals though...

I didn’t know we could only do a certain number of trades a day with heart crystals, so I was saving all mine for the end of the month to trade them all at once. I don’t time travel so they’re sitting in my storage until next year.

I mean, there are some that I missed from March, because of the game starting late in the month, and diving didn't get introduced until summer, so that pushes that back even further. I'm not too worried, because I'll still be working on the art section for quite a while, so I figure the museum will get done when it gets done. There's no timetable to finishing, nor is there a trophy for getting there first.

In the meantime, there are all sorts of fun things to look forward to, and hopefully I'll see the remaining holidays unfold with as few spoilers as possible, so the surprise and expectation remains.

Well, I took a little break around July-August, and subsequently realized I never got the Leo sculpture recipe from Celeste... I have the fragments, just no DIY 😫 at least they add a nice pop of lime green to my storage cabinet. They will probably be in there for a while

I attended all the Bug-Offs so I have the stamps and all the rewards, but I didn't bother grinding for the trophy. I just have the bronze one for now. Maybe I'll have the energy to go for gold next year - if I still even catch bugs or fish by then since I'll have completed the museum.

Because of my break, I'll be a little late to get my 300 days played achievement, but at least it isn't 365 days played

It's also a regular frustration when I forget to go see K.K.
