This is a cry for help!

I have the last house expansion, so I can store 1,600 items, and today while looting the sisters' store I hit my max storage.

What is your technique to ensure you always have some room?

Do you have more than 1 character? And if so, how do you transfer stuff?

Do you just not buy lots of things?

I managed to make room for like 80/90 items by selling all of my duplicates + some stuff I don't see myself using in the near future (and is hopefully reorderable...)

Do you have a magic spell I can use or just a good technique? What's your way of doing it?

I would just get rid of everything I can reorder if I'm not using it currently. This includes clothing, sometimes you just buy stuff to have it and keep it in storage just in case. At least that's how I'm doing it, but I stopped hoarding stuff atm. 😅

Oh wow, using up all 1600 spots is more than I could ever imagine! Thought I had a lot around 600, but if you don't care about a 5 star island, you could always make a nice area for things outside. Or really, just sell the stuff you've never touched, just like old clothes! If you miss it, you can always order it again. Stick to selling things you can easily obtain again.

I just went through and sold pretty much all the reorderable furniture I had in my storage. I'll probably do the same with my orderable rugs, floors, and wallpaper. I have a ton of clothes that I never use for anything as well, but going through that will be a bit more complicated.

I sell off all the clothes that you can reorder. I don't care for Label challenges and I normally wear a custom design anyway. I sell off furniture I'll probably never use.

My storage is still stuck at 120 items so what I tried doing is to sell clothes that I do not need at the moment. If your wand slots aren't full yet, you could transfer some clothing items there to free up a little bit more space.

This! I swear my storage is just bugs and fish at this point!

i actually try to actually only keep furniture & clothes i’d actually use or gift, since they’re orderable so they were never an issue. for wallpapers & floorings too, it’s usually just saharah’s that i keep. it’s the bugs & fishes that i choose to hoard more 😭

Yes Flick or CJ coming will make things a bit better for sure.
I am a bit of a collector/hoarder so getting rid of stuff is hard even though there's ton of stuff I don't use. But what if I need it?!
It doesn't help that I'd have to go through the tedious process of making sure everything I throw out is reorderable.

wait yes. that part is tedious too. sometimes i actually forget about the unorderable furniture or clothes too. pretty sure i have sold some gulliver clothing or fishing tourney furniture without realizing it lol. i’ll be pissed.

I am trying to get rid of everything I can reorder easily. It is going rather well with the furniture. If I'm not displaying it and I can reorder it, then I have probably sold it. It is the clothing that is giving me problems!

Sell things that you don't need, particularly if they're re-orderable. If you decide you want it back in the future, you can always buy it again!

Alternatively, you could try to create outside areas to 'store' and display the additional items. For clothes, you could make a 'clothing store' or display by Able's, or even change a room into a closet by storing things on the walls.

I used to put everything into the museum gallery rooms back in New Leaf... I miss those as an additional storage solution!

I'd just get rid of extra resources as a first step. Realistically, you don't need more than a few stacks because you can always get them again - or make a crafting station outside!
