TIps On Catching A Carp?

For my project, I need a Carp on a cutting board. I have the recipe but I can't catch a carp, thoughts?

It says that they live in ponds, and that the shadow is large. LINK. If you’ve unlocked terraforming, I would create a temporary small pond. Large enough for fish to be seen in it, but you don’t have to move a lot to catch one. I would build it near a building so you can reload from time to time.

Otherwise, just use a lot of fish bait. This is how I caught the rare pond fishes.

As @Bluelady says, creating a temporary pond is the best way. I've got a small pond outside of Al's house, and usually carps will spawn in there.

They're not terribly uncommon. Build a reasonably sized pond, preferably one that you pass often on your way to other facilities, and cast your line whenever you see a larger-than-normal shadow. Alternatively, spam fish bait.

This is definitely a placebo but I feel like I had better luck catching them on cliff ponds lol

I am always getting carps when I go fishing in ponds which I find so annoying as I only have a few fish left to collect and I just keep getting carps

Thanks for all the responses! I've already got a pond on my island and some fish bait so i'll go from there!

(Also, just curious. But how large is the carp shadow. Is it the same as a sea bass?)

From what I remember, it's around the same size as a sea bass, yes. Anything smaller than that, and you can just run near the water's surface to make the fish go away and then use fish bait to spawn another one.

I always have better luck finding carp on mystery islands than on my own, especially if there's a big pond in the middle of the mystery island.

Don’t forget fish food, being able to keep going if you have the wrong size will help.
