So I want to start breeding pink and purple hybrids but I'm not too sure of how it works. So I have some questions ^^

Do the plants have to b positioned a certain way for it to work?
Are you supposed to use a certain amount of plants?
Do you have to keep watering them even if you have the beautiful town ordinance?
How long does it usually take for a new hybrid to spawn?

Thanks in advance! :)

The flowers have to be next to each other (they can be diagonally touching).

You only need two flowers to produce a hybrid, but having more increases your chances of getting a hybrid.

You do have to water them even with a beautiful town ordinance.

Hybrids can spawn at 6:00 A.M. the day after you water your flowers, but there is no guarantee you will get hybrids, so you may need to try watering your flowers for several days.

Woohoo! Something I'm knowledgeable about.

1. They have to be next to each other. Horizontally, digonally, vertically, as long as they are next to each other.
2. You have to have at least 2 (duh). For my gardening setup, I have them in X's as below:

3.Yes, they'll only make new hybrid babies if you water them, even with the Beautiful Town ordinance. So if you only want to grow a specific kind, only water those.
4. Hybrids have a chance to spawn after every new day 6:00 AM I believe?

Thanks guys! I have one last question that I forgot to ask. XD

Do the plants you are using to make the hybrids have to be a certain distance away from other plants?

Fertilizer planted with a golden shovel next to the breeding pair will help increase the chances of spawning more flowers. If you have access to those, you can use them to help growing things.

I use a set up like this for my pansy farming;

No, but you obviously need some space for the hybrids to grow, so you can't have them completely surrounded by other plants. If you have the flowers you want to grow hybrids with close to other flowers, make sure you don't accidentally water those flowers too. I keep at least one space between my hybrid producing flowers and other flowers when I breed hybrids to give my hybrids room to grow and avoid accidental watering of other flowers.

Everyone's already answered your questions but I'd add that it's easier to breed hybrids if you place them on the beach. Villagers can go to the beach and plant stuff, but they're less likely to do it, which makes it harder for your flowers to end up surrounded by normal flowers that you have to remove to give them space to spawn again.
