Tips for Villager Pictures?

Hiya!
One thing I've always loved about Animal Crossing games(Since Wild World at least) is the ability to get pictures of your villagers. However, I feel like in ACNL they are way more stubborn about giving those away! I know talking to them, doing favors, and writing letters all boost friendship, but is there like a set routine I can do to make it more likely to get these pictures?

There's not really a set routine to getting villager pics but there are some things you can do to enhance your chances of getting them:


-Give them gifts/birthday gifts from their list of preferred items.I use Thonky for that: https://www.thonky.com/animal-crossing-new-leaf/villager-birthdays
-Give them perfect fruit when they ask for fruit.Non-native perfect fruit is best.
-Try to give them rare bugs and fish if they ask for them.

Even if you do all of these things it still might take a long time for a villager to cough up a pic but in my experience they will give you one eventually.

In addition to what Nunnafinga posted, I've also found that getting petitions signed gives a pretty good boost to your friendship. I've received a couple of villager pics after turning in a completed petition.

You can definitely get a villager pic within 6 months if you're diligent about what you mentioned as well as the previous posters. (,: I've gotten a villager picture in less than or just about 6 months because I focused on them a lot. It's also a good sign if they show up unexpectedly to your house instead of "setting a time." If you have high friendship with them, eventually they send random letters to you (which you definitely should respond to and attach a gift).

But yes, it really is RNG at the end of the day when they give you the picture. The "odds" are in your favor when you pretty much become their stan. xD

And then of course there's April Fool's Day where you're guaranteed their picture if you're able to pick them out from Blanca.

I literally just got Lucky's pic today after doing a request for him!It only took 2 months and a half to get it so it is possible to get pictures in less than 6 months. You just need to be very diligent and always do requests for them. Do not leave their requests unfinished because that can lower just as denying to do the request does. So always complete requests for them as much as possible and you have a good chance of getting it. It's okay to fail requests sometimes but try to finish most of them. Also good indicators of high friendship are if they come to your house uninvited or send you letters randomly. Also if they refer to you as good pal or dear friend it's a good chance that you're good friends. Just keep doing requests for them and send them letters often. Pretty much everything the above posters have said is all you need to know. Just be very patient and you will eventually get the picture.

I forgot about the April Fool's Day Event!
Thank you guys so much. I don't like time travelling TOO far ahead, so I can't use the April Fool's Day thing all the time, but I'm glad I remember it now.
I'll just keep trying I don't like letting a villager leave until I have their picture, but sometimes their house placement is so inconvenient XD Shari is right behind my house, and I hate it.
