Hi everyone I have recently started to TT on a new acnl game I bought, I would like some tips on TTing without loosing a villager by mistake (I have stitched and I want to keep him)
I usually use the method of choosing one villager and talking to him/her each day until I'm told to go away (or around 10 times). They will tell you if someone is planning on moving and since you'll get close to this villager they should ping you about 5 days in advance if they're planning to move.
The times I've accidentally lost a villager I was either TTing more than one day at a time or I skipped a day talking to my designated villager out of laziness
I just walk pass all my villager until one pings. If it isn't a move than I go to my three villager that spill it the fastest about a rumor mover. The ones inside can spill it fast on the third or four time asking them now they are.
Sometime you have to wait till the hour is just about up before a rumor or you get a ping.
Definitely TT one day at a time to be safe. I know it'll take longer but it's worth it to prevent a villager from moving out. As well, you have to talk to your villagers or make them ping you to check if anyone is moving out and when that date is to make sure you don't pass it.
If a villager pings you to move, and you tell that villager to stay, you can TT from that day to any date in the future or past and no villager will ever move out. If you TT many days into the future (a week or more), then one of your villagers will likely want to move out five days from the date you time traveled to. To find that villager, repeatedly talk to at least two villagers until one tells you that someone is planning on moving (you need to talk to at least two villagers because a villager won't tell you if he/she is planning to move unless he/she pings you. Once you find out who is planning to move, talk to that villager to get back on speaking terms (that villager will mention how you din't talk to him/her in a long time) then save and quit. Reload your game with the same character and find that villager as soon as you can. That villager will ping you and you can tell him/her to stay (or leave if you actually want that villager gone).
I do a lot of time traveling and I use this basic strategy: If a villager has not pinged me to move on my current day, I TT one day forward at a time until I get a ping or moving rumor, then once I find whoever is moving, I get them to ping and tell them to stay and then TT to whatever day I want. I then try to find if anyone else wants to move then, and if I don't find anyone, I go forward one day at a time until I do, and then repeat. I have never lost a villager using this strategy to TT months forward and backward.
I highly recommend that you TT 1 day at a time. Be sure to talk to your favourite villagers each day. It is very important to remember what day you last saved because if you take a break for a week or a couple of months and than come back you may lose a villager and weeds to take over your town.
I read a post where if you write a letter to a certain villager and keep the letter in your pockets, the game will be forced to keep the villager in your town since you can't have a letter to a villager who isn't there.
^ except some people said that doesn't work in New Leaf, so prolly shouldn't try it. kind of a big risk
but yeah. go one day at a time. try to get a ping. or talk to someone until they mention a moving rumor/not. then if a moving rumor is mentioned and it's someone you don't want to lose, you have to get them to ping you.
NEVER travel FORWARD more than like 2 days at a time!!! I made the biggest mistake of my animal crossing life when i did this.. Lost my precious Pecan and all my paths were messed up. But also, try to walk around to see if your villagers will ping you BEFORE you go travelling, just in case
I had this idea that when you TT far into the future with the above save methods, you could also first start with a new 2nd character just to check if anyone moved out or something changed that you dont want and just turn the game off before it saves. before you actually starts the game on the new date with your main character.. cause it will autosave any progress if you do..
that way if something bad happened you could just try again.. would give some more control.
but i havent tried that.. I only TT'ed one day into the future once ^^
