Hi all,
In a previous post it was suggested to me to befriend the villager i wanted to leave my town. i was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to quickly raise their friendship levels? thanks in advance :)

To be honest, I can just say the usual stuff like talk to them, agree to offers and send letters. I usually don't know that much about villagers.

I would say the best way is to talk to them regularly, complete any of their requests and send them letters with gifts attached. They love perfect fruit so you can send it via letter or give them perfect fruit whenever they ask for fruit. If you're giving them furniture, give them something preferably off of their recommended gifts list (google Thonky's guide for recommended gifts) or an item in their favorite style and customized to their favorite color.

I find it hard to maintain a good friendship with them, too! Mainly because I don't send letters.. It takes so much time to type on that little DS screen :) So I just talk to them often & try to complete every request.

Completing as many request for them helps a lot. Also, when you do requests like catching an ocean fish, give them a rare and expensive ocean fish, like the red snapper. The same thing for giving them new furniture when they request it. Give them a refurbished piece of furniture. Doing those particular things really helps to boost a villager's friendship. Sending letters to them everyday helps too. :)

Just go above and beyond what they ask you to do. You can look on at the animal crossing Wiki. When they ask for furniture for their house don't just bring them something random. There is lists of things that villagers like and dislike based on their favorite colors and their style.

When you send letters make sure to use proper spelling and punctuation. Make it long enough to reach the end. I found that you can send them the same letter every day. The game won't know the difference. I think all it looks for is the spelling and length. So if you just slam a bunch of letters and send it the game will know what you're doing. So when you have free time buy a new thing of paper and write 4 identical letters. send them each out every day. Also if you have clothing they like on hand just throw that in the letter as well, Gift wrap it from the store because the game knows the difference.

But yeah basically what the other person said. If they want a bug get them a rare one from the island. If they want a fish get them a shark or one that sells for a lot of bells

Actually, you don't need to go above and beyond to complete all/lots of the tasks.
I'm a very bad mayor. When someone moves in my town and I know they have rare furniture that they wouldn't give me unless our friendship is the highest, I only do a few things to raise the friendship. Then they certainly give me it in less than 3 days usually.
What works efficiently to raise the friendship lever is,

  • Gifting them a superb coffee beans through mail
  • Giving them refurbished furniture (preferably of their taste)
  • Giving them a perfect version of the fruit when they want a fruit
Basically that's it. Not so hard to maintain either. (Please don't see me a mean mayor... I just needed stuff for trades...)

Ooh I didn't think about the coffee beans thing. I have a good amount of those stashed up so they'd make perfect easy gifts!

If I'm looking to raise friendship I usually complete their tasks and give them perfect versions of fruit they ask for. I don't really go above and beyond but if I'm specifically working on one villager's friendship level, I'll make sure to send them letters with gifts during that time as well. The more letters you receive randomly from villagers also indicate that their friendship level with you is high. So once I start receiving mail from them without sending something first (not just a reply to a mail), shows me that I progressed a little in raising friendship!

Yeah, what's nice about beans is that it will never mess up their rooms~

hi, if you dont mind me asking, what are the coffee beans, i dont remember ever having those in my game

Those are from working at Brewsters after ordering from him enough time. Depending on how well you do, the coffee beans are either better if you get all the orders correctly.

I like the coffee beans idea. I wonder if we can give superb coffee beans instead of fruit?

I can’t do perfect fruit, because I sold my one perfect fruit at the beginning of the game, not knowing that I couldn’t easily grow more.

I do not want to give villagers customized furniture, because I am trying to keep their houses original. I ended up messing up Tia’s house with fish and bugs.

When they ask for fruit, I give them regular fruit. When they ask for package deliveries, I haven’t been doing those because I don’t want the shirts or other items to end up in their homes. I do a few of their furniture requests to try to fix their homes when they have acquired items I don’t want them to have. Other than that I have been talking to them a lot.
