I really want dirt paths in Animal Crossing New Leaf but my work doesn't show up! I don't Time Trave at all and I run A LOT but still nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Questions:

-What should I do? Run or Walk fast?
I've run a lot, but when I try to take short cuts by walking fast it shows up. Also some people say Walk and others say Run so I'm confused!

- Does paths help or make it worse?
When I have paths it doesn't really do anything there's still grass! Also I've read different things so I'm also confused!

- Does the Beautiful Ordinace effect it?
If so how can I still get dirt paths without changing it?

First things first, is there still snow on the ground in your town? If so, it is going to be nearly impossible to make dirt paths. Snow makes grass regrow very quickly.

I am not sure whether it matters if you run or walk.. sorry

I have read that paths help the grass to wear more slowly. I currently don't have paths down (just flower/bush/tree lined natural paths) I can always get back to you on that one

The Beautiful Ordinance makes no difference :)

Both, I don't know.

- Does paths help or make it worse?
It slows the grass wear process.

- Does the Beautiful Ordinace effect it?
No.

Just keep running. If you think you did enough, it obviously isn't enough and you need to keep running.

^To add to those, I'm pretty sure running wears down the grass faster than walking. Someone tested it a while back and had a timelapse on Youtube. I don't think there it was much faster though.

If you want it to go faster make 4 human characters and run where you want the paths with them each day. ~ Also invite friends to your town too, each person's first step on each square will wear it down. But running on that space a second time that day does not do as much damage. ~ Though it does contribute a little each time. Just make sure to do your 1st lap around town running each day and it'll happen. (Look around bridges and building entrances and you might see the pattern (circles/triangles/squares) on the grass/snow is gone already.

Also as mentioned before while there's snow on the ground it's harder to wear down the grass. ~ and once you get your paths don't TT forward a bunch, I think if you jump forward by 2 months or more it will all come back at once. ~ I lost my nice neat paths by doing this. S:

Running or walking made no difference in my town, the grass still wears away. It is nearly impossible to have path in winter as others have said. And I?m pretty sure visitors don`t contribute to the grass wear in your own town.

>> Both helps.

Does paths help or make it worse?
>> Based on my own experience, you still can create dirt paths even with patterns on the ground.
In my old town, I used patterns as guide to where I needed to create paths and removed them after.

Does the Beautiful Ordinance effect it?
>> No. (I was on beautiful ordinance when I created dirt paths.)

Tip: Run all over the place and save and quit as much as you can over the course of the day. And do not TT. TTing will regrow your grass. (I got this tip from here. I've done this and proved to be really helpful.) Hope this helps you. c:

You can make dirt paths by creating PWPs and then deleting them, as they leave a dirt patch in that spot I believe.

Running a lot everywhere. Easier way would also be making a new character and wherever you want paths plot them there. Go through the regular character making dialogue and save then delete the new character and viola dirt dirt and more dirt. Keep doing it until you have a nice solid path. I would wait until after the 25th to do this though since the snow should disappear by then and it'll be easier to make paths without snow falling and regrowing the patches.
