Do you tip the people you play online with? I think this mostly applies to turnip selling, as it's usually customary to tip the mayor letting you come sell turnips, but what about other favors? Do you tip if someone lets you in to get signatures for a villager, for example?
How much do you usually tip? Does it depend on how much you make or do you just have a flat rate?
I've always been a little fuzzy on what you're "supposed" to tip - lately I just leave 800k - 1m after selling my turnips, and I usually only bring lockers B and C.
I don't usually tip, tbh, because I need the money. But I recently sold practically a lockerful for 615 bells so I felt I had to tip. Even though I only left 500k, I don't normally tip owo.
I think it's only appropriate to tip people who open their gates to sell your turnips. They could of decided to not share the turnip price with you and just made the profit themselves. Anyways I usually tip 1 full bag of bells per trip to Re-tails.
I recently requested a few fruits. Just plain. Not perfect. I tipped if I went to their town or they came to mine just to show how grateful I was for something so simple.
If the person is a friend you play with regularly, I don't think tipping is required. Because likely, you both help each other out in various ways already. A bingo number here, a good turnip price there, a gift from time to time, etc.
But if it's a person you added just for their turnip prices, or maybe someone you don't know very well, I could see offering a tip or something extra beyond just a "thank you."
I usually tip a 99k bag of bells. That may seem cheap to some, but really, with the ease that it is to make bells, I think that is enough. A tip is a nice way to say thanks for letting you come to their town to sell turnips.
As far as for resident trading, I usually forget to bring a bag of bells with me, but I think I will try to remember from now on. The trick to that is usually the one I'm trading with ends the session as soon as I'm done, so I would need to tip before getting the new resident.
Depends on the situation and our friendship relation. If you make time for me to sell my turnips I'll leave a 10% tip. I don't do it for random trades since the item itself is the reward, but occasionally I leave a 9x perfect fruit gift.
I usually tip 10% when I sell turnips, though I don't really buy a lot of turnips so it's usually 50k-60k. Though sometimes they end the session too quick and I can't tip them
I don't feel the need to tip people when buying though :O if we have settled on a price, then that's the exact amount which I will pay. No more, no less.
agreed. if it's just a quick trade, i usually just give what was asked for and leave; if i've traded with a member before and spoke with them via vm/pm, i'll usually toss in a small gift - bells, something from their wishlist or some fruits.
For turnips, i leave 10%, because, well, they didnt have to open up their town, and its their time. Some people do like 20 min. of turnip selling, and thats a long time to just sit there and monitor people. For free dreamies, I usually brought items. Like a crown, or weeding day items or gracie clothes. Again, they are being generous, and its time consuming, so i figure i want to show some appreciation. For trades, no tipping, since we agreed on a price. Oh for things like people opening their town up for rare dlcs, i still bring a little something. Like hybrids or furniture. Again, just to say thank you for spending your time on me
For trades, I only do what's been agreed upon. Sometimes people will hand out extra stuff, and while I appreciate it, it makes me uncomfortable because I have nothing to offer in return. If I'm going to someone's town to sell turnips, I'll always tip 10% (rounding up to an even amount) no matter how many turnips I bought. (Last haul was about 9mil, so I think I left about 1mil or so...)
I only really have RL friends on my best friends list, and I never tip them. I just give them random items I know they want and vice versa.
