I have noticed of a thing when doing tasks for villagers. Since I'm trying to complete the whole catalogue I made a list with the items I don't have yet, and I have realised that villagers gives you better items when:
You give them perfect fruit which isn't in your town (Give them a perfect peach when your town has oranges).
You give them very rare fishes or bugs (such as sharks, arowana, rare bugs from coconuts, etc.).
They tend to give you not just better items but items you don't have in your catalogue, 100% guaranteed! (Although I guess it's only with orderable items, haha!) Everytime I had done one of these two things with my villagers, they gave me stuffs I didn't have (such as the fuchsia wall, I was searching for it during two years!
). You can receive Gulliver items too! I remembered I gave Coach an arowana. He was amazed and gave me an Arc of Triumph, which is exclusive from Gulliver!
Let me know if you knew that or do you know other tasks in which they can give you items you don't have.
