I've seen this around the forum lately but I don't quite get it. How does it work? I've heard if you leave you game for a long amount of time you can time travel back to the day you left it and it will be fine. True or not, IDK.

Theory is, if you get a villager to ping you and tell them to stay and stop playing your game for as long as you want (e.g weeks, months), when you come back, all your villagers will still be there.

It's a theory though, some people has said it worked but it's not fully confirmed. If this was what you were talking about? :-)

It's true. If you travel back to the last day or the day after you played everything will be intact. Since you changed the date the villagers and Isabelle are none the wiser that you have been gone. Then you can slowly TT to present day a couple of days at a time.

If I leave my town for a bit the only thing I am concerned about is villagers moving. So I just make sure to save on a day I told someone not to move. No one will move until you start up your game again. They will ask the day you play. I left my first town for almost two months and no one moved.

LOL. Just realised you were talking about something else.

Regarding the "TT trick" you are talking about, it's that you get someone to ping you > tell then them to stay > stop playing for as long as you want (weeks, months etc) > TT back to the LAST date you played > slowly TT day by day back to the current date whle stopping villagers from moving as you go.

Not sure if this was it? Somewhere along the lines. Like the other theory, this theory isn't fully confirmed. ^~^

Yeah that too. Anyway to stop my villagers from moving. XD
I've heard that too, and I wish we had some testers haha.

But the one I am meaning for this thread is that I have heard. If you stop playing for say weeks or months, and then time travel back to the date you left it everything will be fine because you haven't enter you game again for it to change. But is this really true?

LOL sort of. XD
Again, we need people to test it!

Yes, all you have to do is keep track of the last day you play, and if you TT back to that day when you start playing again everything will be the same as you left it. I do it all the time.

Thank you effluo, Piroshi! That helps! :)

It is true. As long as you go back to precisely the day, the game thinks you just picked up where you left off. It would be interesting to see someone talk to their villagers a lot, stop playing for months, then go back to that day and see if they say, "You're sure talking to me a lot today!"

The part about stopping play the day you stopped someone from moving, and then not losing anyone if you don't play again for a long time, is also true. The game doesn't calculate who might or might not have moved during the time you weren't playing. If you are sure you stopped someone the very last day you played, you won't have to go back and slowly travel forward. They will all be there. But, if you stopped them the day *before* you last played, there is a chance someone will be gone. After you stop someone, the game will decide the next day you play who or even if someone will be thinking of moving.

The best thing to do after not playing for a long time, no matter if you stopped someone or not, is to go in as a new character and make sure no one is missing. If they aren't, you're fine to play right then. Don't forget to look in houses to make sure your favorites aren't there, but in boxes. If it's been a long time, your villagers will have lost friendship with you and you'll have to work it back up. If someone is missing, then you need to go back to the last day you played and get them to ping you and stop them. Then, you could travel right back to the present and not lose anybody.
