I want to change my 3DS' date and time back to normal, but I don't know if it will affect my AC:NL game. If I set the 3DS clock to regular time, will that cause the game to change its time too? I'm asking because both of my towns have all my dreamies, and I'd like to not lose them.

How far behind are you in your game?

The system's clock and the in-game one are connected. If you're in the same date on both, the game will move forward with the system's clock. If you're on different dates, the game will still move forward (or backwards) to match the change. For example, if you're on today's date in both and change to two weeks from now, the game will keep up with that change. If you're two weeks ago in the game and set the 3DS's calendar to two weeks from now, the game will be on the present date since it will go forward two weeks.

I'm not going to tell you to use your in-game clock since I prefer the 3DS one too for various reasons, so my advice is to just deny a villager's request to move, save, and then set your calendar forward. That will keep villagers from moving. It will have been as though that amount of time has passed without you playing, though, so if you want to prevent that, just play day by day (you don't have to play for a long time). Having the Beautiful Town ordinance helps as well.

Are you trying to set the calendar back to normal for any special reason? If it's just for another game, you can take out your ACNL cartridge, set the date back to normal, and play the other game. You can change it back before you put the ACNL cartridge back in. I've been doing that with Pok?mon (I'm in the present in that game) and ACNL (I'm a bit behind).
