Okay, it's near the new year and I was wondering if I time traveled into the next year then back to the real date, would that be different from traveling within the same year?

At first I thought you meant like in real life and so I was confused but I think you might be talking about animal crossing, which you should have posted in the new leaf forums.

And I still don't really understand your question and I don't time travel so sorry.

From 31st of DEC to 1st of JAN is a new year, but going back to the previous year does not affect gameplay. That goes the same for tting back in time, it counts as just a new day. People go from 31st of DEC to 1st of JAN and then back and forth again to get new year items.
