I time travel to give myself more content and a larger feeling of progression. I'm not a fan of playing in small increments of any game and I prefer to go hard when I am, and then take breaks in between.
With that said, "cheating" (though I'd hardly call it that) of any kind is a slippery slope for myself. Thankfully playing New Leaf so much gave me an idea of where I can draw the arbitrary line of where it goes from 'fun' to 'not fun'. I get the most joy from the game when I'm putting at least a few hours into each day, interacting with villagers, and mindlessly running around to feel like I've "exhausted" the day in a way. Then I don't feel like im turbo speeding through the game.
I think a lot of people don't recognize that the line is different for everyone and that's why people feel so strongly on each end of the spectrum.
