This has probably been asked before... but I'm asking again because I don't know. So I've been away from Animal crossing for the best of 3 months. I've got my main game up to date, but with my second town, I had just accepted Coco to move in. Luckily, I remember the date her plot was being set down and have set my 3DS back to that date so I can plot reset her.

My question is, once I have her in a spot I like, is it okay for me to boot up the town as mayor, save and quit then time travel to the normal date? Would all my villagers be there still or do I risk someone moving away? I had to do a similar thing before, only I had to wait until a villager moved out before I tt'd. I was just wondering if the method works in reverse (so, if I have a plot planned for appearing, is it okay to time travel ahead without issue?)

Many thanks everyone!

Hm.. Well.. I'm not sure. how many villagers is Coco going to make? :)

I mean I think it would work the same???? But should probably wait until someone who is sure comes around unless your in a rush. :)

Coco will be my 10th in the town. And I'm in no rush. Just thought I'd get it out of the way while the thought was in my head.... I have a tendency to get distracted. XD

If I understand correctly, you're time travelling to the date you last played to plot reset for Coco?

On one hand, nobody might move out since villagers don't think about moving when someone else is in the process of moving in, as far as I can remember, and whether someone moves out by the time you next play your game is based on that. On the other hand, I'm not completely sure about that, so you might want to play day by day for a while until someone pings you. You can then tell them to stay and come back to the present safely. If you want to make it quicker, when you think there's a chance that someone might be thinking about moving, save and quit, and set your 3DS calendar to a couple of weeks (or more) later. Better yet, set it to the date you want to time travel to. Then, use a new character to check if anyone's missing from the map. If you want to be extra safe, visit the villagers who are indoors and see if they're in boxes. Quit without saving and set the 3DS calendar back again.

If nobody is missing and nobody is in boxes, that means nobody's thinking about moving on your present date and you should (technically) be able to time travel safely, but again, I've only done that once.

If someone is missing from the map, on the past date, use your mayor to find that villager. If they don't ping you, talk to them 5-6 times, save, and quit. If they didn't mention moving, reload the game, find them, and talk to them several times again before saving and quitting. Keep doing that last step until they ask you to move. You can then say no and time travel safely (I've done this one multiple times).

Ah, that sounds perfect! Thanks so much for the help!
