Thoughts on Trump winning?

the thought of him becoming president before the election was pretty scary to me because of how much power he will have but im just going to calm down and ignore everything as much as i can.
im not going to die so whatever lmao

I think that he will do okay as a president. I have confidence that he can make the right choices and be open-minded to the cabinet and his peers.

People need to keep in mind that just because Trump was elected president doesn't automatically call for WWIII. That's stupid. He won't even be sworn in until January 20, 2017!

Also, those people who say that they are leaving the US because of him being elected president obviously aren't thinking straight. They can't escape from the US. At all. No matter where you go, the new president's actions will follow. The United States is one of the leading countries in the whole world, so it would have a big impact on other countries, especially when it comes to the economy and foreign affairs.

Not showing support for our government is (I consider) un-American. Heck, I would support Hillary even though I think she deserves a life sentence.

People aren't even willing to give him a chance. I could see people freaking out if he's been president for a year and a lot of bad things have happened, but he hasn't even been announced the new president for very long (what, 12 hours?). They really need to think this through before they assume that this guy is going to absolutely ruin our country.

If he tries to ruin our country he can and will be impeached. Then we have Mike Pence. A guy you can trust.

Gotta have faith!

Is not whether or not he is going to make the right choices (I don't think he will but, anyway). Is just that his campaign was covered in racist innuendos (at times not so hidden), in a misogynistic way of thinking, in an appeal for violence and force to solve issues that could be solved through dialogue, and that's what is alarming.

The fact that he was supported by the Klu Klux Klan, the fact he admires Putin, Sadam Hussein, Kim Jong Un (all ruthless dictators). The fact everyone ignored pretty easily how disgustingly he talks about women in pro of a "greater America" is what is alarming.

The fact his Vice-President is just as close minded and supports a "conversion therapy" proposition in which they will electrocute the LGTBQ people to turn them "normal" is what is alarming.

Is the fact minorities are scared to death because they are uncertain of what will happen to them. They are realizing how unwanted they are in a Country that pledges to give "freedom and safety" to everyone (as long as they are white cis males of course).

Is how people, especially Trump's followers, will become from now on. They know all this behavior is backed up and celebrated by their president, by their government. Violence is accepted now. Racism is accepted now. Hate is accepted now. Is the fact we minorities will have to be extra careful now, and try not to practice a particular religion, or say our sexual orientation, or be careful around white people because of the color of our skin.

Do you think being afraid of who you are is truly "freedom"? You say not supporting your president is un-American, but tell me, if your President threatens the peace of your beloved country, and you see him do whatever he wants with it, and scare communities to please only one community, and you just stand still saying "yeah... well this is what the country wanted, he's our President so he's qualified, he'll know what to do", don't you think that is more un-American?

I'm sorry but how is Trump better than Hilary?

We were screwed either way, but... Trump's whole campaign was so hate based??? how do you find that better???

Did you see all the minorities crying yesterday in the news? all the students protesting? all the hispanics, blacks, muslims thinking of killing themselves because they know their life will be ruined starting in two months? (or maybe soon because of how Trump's followers are?) Do you not feel a little bit of compassion for them at all?

I know Trump is poorly behaved, but he might do his goods and bads in office. Just look at Abraham Lincoln. He may be honored for emancipating the slaves, but he has done bad stuff too. He increased our national debt by 400% or something, suspended habeas corpus, and forced people to fight in the war. George Washington may be our first president, and was a great general and told us not to lie, but he owned slaves. Theodore Roosevelt broke up monopolies and trusts, but he lead to the overpopulation of deer in the Kaibab National Forest. Thing is, each president had their goods and bads. The South feared that Abraham Lincoln would take away all of their states rights, but he freed the slaves and tried to come up with a Reconstruction plan that wasn't as harsh as Johnson's. I don't think Trump is gonna be as bad as what he said in his campaign.

don't get me wrong, imo they're both not very good. people threatening to kill themselves over a president is just clogging up suicidal hotlines, my friend called a suicide hotline and they said they were busy (because people are threatening to kill themselves as a silly protest) so, what happens to the people who need someone to call but these dumb protesters have made the hotline busy? people are whining over nothing, for a while it will feel like nothing has changed, if anything trump is a genius to attract the media to get this far
and hillary on another hand is a whole different story. she should be locked up lmao

I also have been feeling suicidal. I don't want to live in a country run by someone who "grabs women by the ______". I am a human being, not something to be grabbed at by someone I want to call a role model for children, our president. I don't want someone who is backed by the KKK running our nation.

The right of every person that isn't a white male will be threatened.... And for that reason, today I feel immense anxiety and depression that our country has regressed this far.

Unfortunately, more than half of the country prefer women's rights to be threatened, put in their proverbial "places" and others to walk in fear because they are not the "dominant" race....

For all who voted for Trump... you have done this to us.

Whinning over nothing. . . . really?

lmao I shouldn't be discussing this with you honestly

that's... wow. i'm speechless. so a white man doesn't have the right to feel scared of trump because...he's white, and a man? you can't silence their voices if they're threatened by trump, please don't be like that.

i'm just having a normal debate, nothing against you, don't be so hostile. they're threatening the lives of others by, as i said, clogging up suicidal hotlines. compared to other people's problems, this doesn't have to be anything.

on another note, you come back at me with that. real mature and you're not standing up for your beliefs, you're silencing yourself

I said this because honestly there's so many issues that will branch out of this, and that will affect many people in the US, especially minorities.

And I do not want to discuss this with you because don't take it the wrong way but you are young and you are in the UK. Is a point of view from a young outsider that might be influenced by what people in social media say, or your parents; and it does not compare to people who are living here, and are working hard to have a good life, and are going through this feeling uncertain of what will happen in their futures.

i can already picture it now
"yo, donald, i'm really happy for you, i'ma let you finish, but i had one of the best speeches of all time! one of the best speeches of all TAAIIME"
