Thoughts on the morality of amiibo villagers in sale?

I think amiibos are fine. I'm interested to know how you feel about people summoning an amiibo character daily only to get DIY recipes (not crafting them to give to the villager so that you can get more than three).
I've had rotten luck with getting a bunch of repeat DIYs from the tutorial of all things from my animals so ive been desperate for more chances for diys, this is absolutely brilliant tbh xD (btw love your profile icon and username
This was what I was trying to have the thread's discussion be about to begin with, but I think some people misunderstood, which is fine. I'm just happy to have a successful thread. I wish people were more generous, but late stage capitalism isnt going anywhere any time soon lmao.
I do apologize if my comment came off rude or anything xD I wasnt intending to be condescending, I just find the rise of these sort of questions to be genuinely kinda funny and entertaining, like when someone questioned the morality of selling turnips at another player's island. I do understand the shadiness of owning an amiibo of a popular character and still charging the "normal"/higher rates for them. But when someone offers the service on a discount (whether it should be completely cheap or how much that discount should be is beyond me) than I think it's a perfectly fine use. If anything it helps the market for amiibo villagers chill a bit because it means there's more in circulation :O

I remember saying ages ago before the game came out, that to get special items, we'd have to get it from a specific villager, and craft it for them. Just like PC.

Everybody thought I was nuts. :)
I haven't seen anything special come from villagers that wouldn't come from a balloon, message in a bottle, or Nooks. It's just that Amiibos make it easier to obtain said items. It's also fun to drop in on a neighbor crafting. I'll take a free recipe 100 out of 100 times.

No worries! I didn't think you were being rude at all! I love having conversations like these because it really helps you learn a community and their interests. Passionate does not equal rude, so don't feel bad about that! :D
I didn't even know people were questioning the morality of selling turnips on someone elses' island. That just sort of seemed like a no-brainer that people should be doing. I have never once gotten a turnip price over 200 bells, and in New Leaf I basically coasted off of bells I managed to win in a giveaway. New Horizon's turnip selling mechanic helped me make enough that I could play comfortably and not have to worry about wasting 3 days of my life fishing just to buy like.. a couch or something lol. Without trading on other people's islands, I probably would have given up on the game already.
I really like the idea of people selling villagers worth 500 NMT for 2. I find that very funny, and honestly much kinder. I know the economy is screwed, but there's no reason any villager should be worth that much. If you're selling a villager over and over for hundreds of tickets or billions of bells, it seems just as greedy as the people who charge 500k per visit to sell turnips, but only in extreme circumstances. I'm happy to see everyone else's perspective on this, though. I've been wary about trading certain villagers for others because they're originally from my amiibo cards, so it takes a weight off my shoulders.

It doesn't make a difference to me but I also use a lot of amiibo and if I want a character and have the money at the time, I prefer to just buy the card. I've purchased amiibo villagers from others in the past though and I'm totally cool with it! All I care about is whether I like this villager and if they're in my town. Not where they came from. Now with this whole glitch situation we have in the game though, that's different, since it's kinda amiibo related. Then it matters, because I wouldn't want a glitched game/villager!

That's such a lovely way to go about it! It's nice to help people get their dreamies. I've been doing the same with my Marshal amiibo card, and it's so satisfying to see people so happy after the fact.

If you still do it 👉👈 would you help me with marshal? I love him so much
